Enjoy, Eddie.

Guitarists acquiring new instruments can indeed, buy friends, without feeling like a social misfit.

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't 40 guitars kinda overdoing it to excess? Sounds like greed to me!

It sounds more like GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome) to me.

I used to be like that, having GAS over the last 25 years--I wanted a guitar for each type/genre of music I could think of, plus I went through phases of what my 'favorite' music was and that tended to change about once every 5 years--with gear acquisitions to fit. I don't know what my max amount of guitars were at one time. And I REALLY would rather NOT know. I started to list what I do have right now, and it started to get painful--lets just say it's over 20. I'm getting rid of some of them (some I already have in the last couple of months), just because it's just not practical to have that many anymore. I'd rather enjoy playing them, and NOT in being their custodian--and that means that some of them must go away, because some of them haven't seen the light of day in a LONG time. And don't get me started on the amps.

Yeah, it used to be fun to me to have all that gear, but now it's like having a garage SO full of stuff that I'd NEVER get a car in it unless the stuff went somewhere else. I'm not as young or enthusiastic as I used to be, I'd rather be spending my energy on anything else besides inventory and maintenance. That's too much like work!

I just got 2 new guitars this morning! A Fender '08 Deluxe Telecaster and an '08 Deluxe Stratocaster! The Tele is the Deluxe Ash, and the Strat is the 3-Color Sunburst Maple finish! That's 40! I now have 40 guit's! I am so HAPPY! I've been jammin' now for about 4 hours........ :D :P :D :P :D :P

You own 40 guitars, including a deluxe Strat and deluxe Tele and you can't afford a new digital camera? I suggest selling 38 of your guitars and stop paying rent on the warehouse you use to store all you guitar gear in.
:P
