Some people apply a gender to their (ahem) instrument. I don't know why.
I refer to my Strat as, my Strat. I call my boat, "my boat" and my motorcycle (when I had one), "my motorcycle". Although many people seem to refer to these things as "her" or "she", I have never quite seen the logic in it. They may be beautiful and even sexy in a way, but personally, I just don't get it.

I searched for this (rather useless) topic, and when I got no results, decided to do a new post.

Yeah, I've met other players who call their guitar "she" or give it a girl's name. If you really think about it, it's kinda ironic since the the guitar is often seen as a phallic symbol. As for me, I like to think of my guitar in non-gender terms.

Yeah, I have a guitar named Betty (Texas Accent Please)! Just joking! I don't get the point either!

I don't think of mine having any real gender either. In German, the word is "die Gitarre" which is feminine but as you may be alluding, many people here seem to think of a guitar as "masculine" and there was even the Super Bowl flap over what Prince's guitar outline seemed to resemble.

I have never found man bits or female bits on any of my gear. "Sexing" a guitar is kinda creepy.

I'm a girl, so mine is a guy. I named him Ziggy.

Determining the gender of a guitar is impossible... except if you take the "wangcaster" into account.

1 male - my Squier '51, all of the rest are female.

At least in my mind.

somewhere I heard that the shape of a guitar was fashioned to resemble the curves of a womans body.
