Has Anyone heard of Buddy Fite, he was my dad. I know Jivemiguel has. I get a check every once and a while from mel bay, even if its only $6 its still cool!

Check out http://www.hagstrom.org.uk/buddy_fite.htm for his interview in his Mel Bay book.

I've been trying to find that guitar, Its a one of 356 Hagstrom Jimmy Oval in cherry sunburst plus his Bigsby. The only one i can find is in New York for $3600 Yikes!

If you read the interview I have that Willie Nelson photo in my room.

Buddy Fite, the jazz guitarist ? Yes, I've heard of him. That's cool to have his son here. Do you play jazz also ?

I've really liked his playing on a few recordings with Sarah Vaughn, Johnny Mathis, and Count Basie. 8)

I just googled and that's the only one I saw too.

It's too bad...a good player, imo.

im a great admirer of your dad...since the 70s. have all his albums and made a point to go hear him one time when he was playing in some portland ore lounge...i think near the airport. what i remember most about him, other than being totally amazed at the nonchalant way he could play the astounding stuff he played, was his rather pesky stage personality...he was very quiet, but with a real twinkle in his eye...and i recall at one point someone he knew in the audience left the room to use the bathroom. soon as the guy was out of site, buddy quickly set his guitar down, went over to the guy's table, took his drink, moved the drink to a table across the room, and started playing again. naturally everyone in the room saw this, and when the guy got back to the table, all the patrons were stiffling laughter as he looked down at the table with a totally puzzled expression for his missing glass. i stayed around about an hour after that, and he never figured out what happened to his cocktail, and when he looked up toward your dad, he was staring studiously at his guitar neck, the picture of concentration and innocence. im sorry he's gone. dan
