I watch the Slane Castle concert clips on youtube like every day.
Wish I could have been there live, Frusciante smokes.

If you listen to the live version of 'Belief' by John Mayer
(The one off of Where The Light Is) He does the amazing intro to it and his tone in my opinion is f*ck*ng amazing!!!
I must listen to it several times a day.

I've had a listen to this today and yeh! I see what you mean. Just doesn't go on for long enough, I could have taken at least another ten minutes of that.

The ones I can think of that really influenced me live in person before I got a strat was:
Coco Montoya - amazing blues player
Buddy Guy - same thing
Gary Hoey - showed me you don't need a hard driving Les Paul to rock your socks off.

besides the guitarists previously mentioned,

the guy who replaced John Frusciante back in 1992 had a great live Strat tone: Arik Marshall

What's he been up to since he left RHCP?

I guess I will have to google it ...

nov 98' Dick Dale. He played a Stratocaster called "The Beast". The opening act was a good surf rock group "The Thursters". I saw them a few times after that until they moved to another town. :(
