This is really a question for the most part... Do any forumites have experience with the VOX TONELAB Stomp Box? I played one of the previous generation of Tonelab's box and was really kind of impressed... it sounds like a tube because it does, in fact, have a Tube pre-amp in it. It made a solid state Fender Amp sound like a Blues Jr. Does it have a rhythm and Loop function?

Amp sims have never really been my thing, but we bought a Tonelab LE for my brother-in-law's birthday and naturally I gave it a good tryout first. I liked the hands-on interactivity far better than the endless nested menus of my old GT-3. Some of the modulation effects were nice and slightly different than the usual. As always, though, the pre-set patches are way overcooked and need tweaking to bring them under control.

The best thing was that if sims are what you want then the Vox scores over the opposition at the clean sounds: normally it is driven tones that the likes of Line 6 and DigiTech do well. If you want to emulate amps from Fender through to Vox this is a good choice. Maybe it's that on board tube; maybe not...

I don't recall a looper or rhythm section; that's more Korg's territory, isn't it? Anyway, check out the specs:

Cheers - C

I have a tonelab and really love it. I am not much into effects as much as I use to be, so I am more into the amp sims. This gives me the hard crunches I wanted that my Marshall half-stack couldn't offer (dual rectifier) as well as the smooth clean reverbs (fender). I did have to tweak the presets though. Saved me a bunch of money and space on not having to buy multiple amps.

No looper.
