Neither, I prefer Gator Cases because they are durable and affordable.

Is this what you are talking about:
http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/ ... sku=546104

Looks like the Road Runner Case

No, this is the one I recommend:
http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/ ... sku=544781
Though the price is about $15 more now than when I got mine...

+1 They fit Strats nicely and well made for the money.

What do you guys think of this case?

Remember, I'm a little strapped for cash so the cheeper the better...but quality is still an issue. Economy is the word.

This may be a new SKB design. If so, it should serve. The one thing I prefer is something generic enough to not reveal it's contents when out and about.

The new Fender case unfortunately, has an identity, as does the LP case or, for that matter, anything with a label.

When I see a rectangular, black or tweed covered case, nicely stitched and appointed with nice hardware, the first think I think is 'Fender.'

It's a tough call. :?

I'm old enough that my sense of style is fairly well set. I just love the look of the vintage G&C Fender cases. It's just where a strat belongs as far as I'm concerned.

You've read my position on those. I'd like them done ala PRS. That would really round it out. G&G will do one like that for around $200 so the quoted me

I had no idea. That's pretty cool.

That case looks like the Squier Case - see case pages of the downloadable 2008 Fender Accessories Catalog - a 15 MB PDF - http://www.fender.com/resources/catalogs/pdf/2008_FMIC_accessoris_catalog.pdf

I've been pretty fortunate, both my Ibanez and Suhr guitars came with their own hardshell.
Didnt realise their was so much choice around

Don't leave home without one.

* I believe that these have been discontinued, but there are still some around if you look hard enough.

Go with the tweed one--or not--many of the suggestions are good ones as well.
But I don't know if I'd buy a case online if I hadn't seen it in person to know a couple of things-
1-how strong & well made is it? (Protection wise)
2-How well does your guitar fit in it? (Again for protection.)

There are other considerations, but those 2 are the most important.

Thanks, I figured that I would just go to my Guitar Center and see what they have. If its not the best case no worries, I don't play out or tour or anything along those lines. I just want something to store my guitar away from dust and the weather

It doesn't have to be expensive--but it should fit well and it should be solid.

My son has a Roadrunner rectangular hard case for his Stratocaster. Very nice case. Lots of room for stuff like a slide, a metronome, a strap, and other accessories. If you shake the case you can feel the guitar shifting from side to side, so if you're travelling with it, pack some towels in the case to fill it. I think that's a necessary side-effect of not having been designed for a particular model of guitar. Quality of the case is excellent, but I don't think I'd use it for air travel. We used it on a road trip and it was fine.

I have this case:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/SKB-Economy-Universal-Electric-Guitar-Case-541621-i1177901.gc

My personal opinion is that the money you spend on a case should all go toward protecting your guitar and not toward cosmetics. This seems to do a good job for me.
