I know that a lot of folks are waiting but have any of you seen this?
They are even including a signed copy of the book.

Why so surprised?? This is entreprenurship by a major reputable vendor who is known to handle special order, end product from the Custom Shop. Just another source outlet for marketing, and there is no price gouging here.

Keep your eyes open for the speculators who may try to make a profit on the sale of these guitars to the uniformed.

I'm not surprised either. I am surprised that they say that they are getting 75 of them, and say that they'd be happy to pick out a 'great one for you'. At that price, they'd ALL better be 'great ones', especially with the way the economy is right now!

Nice guitar, I'm sure ... but $4000? Black finish over a sunburst?

Is it just me or is there just a little too much David Gilmour "man love" going on around here??

Not at all O1GT, it's all about opinions. It would be a dull old world, if we all thought the same way.

Way too much money for a guitar as far as I'm concerned. I don't care who it's modeled after.

I agree, but its $6,500 cheaper than the Andy Summers Tele....so its great deal  J/K.

In fact it's true to David's wishes as it is one of the cheapest Custom Shop Models!

We're in the different strokes department here. If you haven't seen AlainLaFrance's collection I suggest you take a peek at what one collecter's point of view is.

With respect to the original post, let the writer log into the Custom Shop's inventory and note the guitars which are specifically built for Wildwood. This should further clarify how they manage to command the DG inventory they have been able to order. Not unlike 'The Music Zoo' in my neck of the woods.

Doc

Googled for that collection you mentioned. It's not showing up. Do you have a web address for it?

I've asked questions of both Wildwood and The Music Zoo when I've spotted something of theirs that I was interested in on eBay. Their responses are OK, but not what I'd call outstanding, exceptionally knowledgable or even thorough--which you'd kind of expect from a high end dealer. And yes, I DO ask very specific questions, especially when I'm thinking of spending in the 4-figure range. As a rule, I've had much more detailed and satisfactory answers from private sellers most of the time. Maybe the shops are too busy with their inventory to deal with customer Q & A?

Go to Custom Shop>Instruments>Stratocasters>Custom Shop Dealer
Select.

For the 'collection' go into Search up top and search posts by AlainLaFrance. You'll either be going into some of the photos or find the URL to the site where his pics are stored

I just wanted to let those who are excited about this guitar know that this was out there. I think it is great, and I am happy for those who can get this great instrument, it is an instant family heirloom!!! I started saving;) Someday I hope to get one myself

The studio I work at is about a 3 minute drive from Wildwood Guitars. It's a very small shop. So small in fact that I did not learn until recently that they had such a close relatioship with the Fender Custom Shop. Everytime I have been in the folks working there seemed very nice and full of knowledge. It's not the place where I spend most of my musical money, though...

Anyway, if anyone wants me to run over and pick up a DG Strat for them, send along the moneys and I'll hang on to the guitar and pluck about until you can make it to Colorado to pick it up. :P
