Did you get your Tube Screamer modified by analogman?

No I modded it myself and I'm no tech for sure. It is a pretty simple mod if you can solder carefully. The hardest part is not bridging the traces when you solder the IC chip. But if I could afford it I would have analog man do it.

I used the instructions linked below since they had the best photographic illustrations. The instructions are basically the same as almost every other TS-9 to 808 mod instructions I could find online.

http://www.tonepad.com/photoessay.asp?photoEssayID=9

I installed a IC socket as the instructions recommend so I could try various chips. The JRC4558D sounded so good I never tried any other chips. I also changed the 2 recommended resistors.

I bought the parts from Small Bear. Here's what I bought. I bought 2 of each in case I messed up anything (which I did).

IC JRC4558D

IC RC4558P

Socket, IC, Dual-Leaf, AMP 8-pin

Resistor Set, 1/4 watt 5%, Composition TS Mod

This is one of the places where I got my info about chip types. Some good info...

Did you notice a big improvement?

I noticed a subtle improvement. But enough that my non-musician wife could hear the difference. I would call the pedal with the mod "warmer" and more "articulate". As a test I played through my Marshall DSL 401's (all tube combo) overdrive channel and alternately played the amp clean with the modded ts9 used for overdrive. I dialed in a sound on the ts9 that sounded almost exactly like my Marshall's overdrive channel. I could say it sounded exactly like it but someone else's ears might be able to hear the difference. As someone who has been using non-modded ts10s and ts9s for 20 years now I'm very happy I did the mods. Should have done them years ago.

I just got a Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus pedal on e-bay, for a great price too. I hope to get it on Tuesday, it sounds pretty cool on youtube. I'm looking forward to messing around with it, 8)

I have had alot of fun with a BOSS DR 88o (DR. Rhythm). It's a cool box overall with lots of rhythm loops, basses and the Roland COSM amp models. It really makes practice fun when your solo.
I don't know that the guitar process is really strong on that model, and it's probably not the best for a live gig... Anyway, Down the road, I want to try a VOX TONELAB LE. Has anyone on the forum got some experience with the VOX? I am interested in the TUBE preamp- and played one of the old models thay make +1 :?:

I got the chorus pedal today, it sounds fantastic. I'm very impressed with this, I'm watching a voodoo lab sparkle pedal on e-bay. I really should take my foot off the gas pedal :(

Now with the new Marshall AVT Halfstack, I have no use for that old Grunge pedal! Now its the Dunlop GCB-95 Crybaby or a "Starcaster" brand Flanger. The flanger may be from a low-quality company, but its not that bad of a flanger really.

New favorite I bought today. Fulltones GT-500 OD/distortion/ kinda compresion pedal. Very cool tone to it. But realy the pedal I've been most impressed by is my MXR Carbon Copy analog delay. Now that's a cool sound. From a very subtle signal fatting to full out space freak. I'm more in the subtle range it gives me joy. lol. Peace. J.J.B.

I keep being told that I will love the Damage Control "Womanizer" pedal, but I couldn't find one around here to try out, so I ordered one from MF, and wouldn't you know it, they're on back order.

So I'm waiting patiently for them to get them in and send me one. Every day I check they keep saying they're due tomorrow. So until I get one, I guess my favorite pedal is my wah pedal. Or maybe my talk box.

I love the Barber Electronics Linden Equalizer. Even with the pots maxed, it is phat and clear without any slop & harshness.
