Thanks for everyone's response so far, but please keep 'em coming and you people that don't have such a prestigious sounding job, please feel free to post what you do too.

Ain't no shame in posting that you clean floors or work for a fast food chain or sell guitar cables. There are a zillion people who are part of this great Fender.com community and inquiring minds want to know what it is that YOU do. :)

Thanks for participating!

I have seen a few of these on the road. They are nasty vehicles. It is a big car in person.

The incredible fact is that save for the truly personal mail we receive, most of it becomes recycled paper with all the unfathomable crap institutions send as bulk mail...e.g. I keep getting requests from Chase to open credit card accounts...same bank....different logos and sponsors. I must receive on the average one or two daily.

This is why my postman gets $100 in his envelope at holiday season.

He works hard for the money.

It's my job to apply a generous mitten full of the deadly yellow snow crystals and rub it in a vigorous circular motion into beady little eyes. Rub it.

Well pay close attention to what's written here and take plenty of notes. So far, what you've come up with consists of a really cool shirt.

That's a great beginning!!...Keep up the good work. :P

Doc

Yes the stress is unbelievable. You can have 2500+ pieces of mail and you're expected to finish at the same time as if you have half this amount. Plus the office that I work out of has had some retire and quit in the last month so we're short on help which we were already short-handed before anyone left for good. That means we have to split some routes which means more work which means that much more stress. :?

My brother worked in rural delivery for about a year and a half and he said it could be a pure nightmare. In short, he'd agree with you 100%. He quit the day some hothead met him at the mailbox, blamed him because some check he expected wasn't there, the following day was Sunday and just what the H*&& did my brother expect him to eat for the next day and a half.

When my brother attempted to say "sorry, man, but we just deliver what arrives," the guy started hammering on the side of his truck with a sledgehammer. This wasn't the only time he'd been blamed for some mail not being there and not the only time some postal customer tried to take the whole system out on him ... but it was the last straw..

... and by way of original post, I'm a client services manager/custom reporting developer for a payroll company. The cool thing about my department (and company) is that I have several positions that are perfect for aspiring musicians ... always feels good to be able to help out someone who's in the shoes you were wearing 30 years ago.
