Well, have you? Come on now, I do it all the time, like I'm some big rock star or something.
Here is how they usually go....

Me (Interviewer): Why did you start playing the bass?

Myself (Interviewee): Because I would have sucked on guitar, too many strings. And the drums are too confusing, and the piano has too many thingys on it.

Me (Interviewer): Is that why you started playing the bass?

Myself (Interviewee): No, I did it all for the Nookie.

Me (Interviewer): The Nookie?

Myself (Interviewee): Yeah!

Me (Interviewer): Ok then, Do you think that the bass is a perfect fit for you?

Myself (Interviewee): Why do you keep calling it the bass? It is the bass, like in bass fishing. It's the bass guitar.

Me (Interviewer): My apologies then, But is the bass perfect for you?

Myself (Interviewee): I don't know. It still has 4 strings for me to screw up on. All of the triangles were sold out at the music store though, and the kazoo screams gheyness.

Me (Interviewer): How do you get your awesome tone on the bass?

Myself (Interviewee): By not knowing how to play. And I think my amp is blown.

Me (Interviewer): You have a nice looking bass though, what kind is that?

Myself (Interviewee): It's a Fender American Precision bass with a maple neck and an all black body and pickguard, strung with flatwounds.

Me (Interviewer): Just like Roger Waters?

Myself (Interviewee): Who is that?

Me (Interviewer): Anything else you would like to add?

Myself (Interviewee): Yeah, go out and buy my new CD.

Me (Interviewer): You have a new CD?

Myself (Interviewee): No, but that is what people usually say at the end of these things.

Me (Interviewer): Thank you for taking time out to talk to me.. uh yourself... uhm your alter ego, oh you know what I mean.

Myself (Interviewee): You're welcome, I mean I'm, well...oh forget it.

Kurt Cobain used to write fake interviews like that. I suppose they aren't fake if you have a multiple personality disorder. By the way, great interview, Zod.

Q:--So Zontar, do you ever interview yourself?
Zontar: Sure, sometimes.

I've tried it a few times, but I found myself a not very interesting subject -- I've already heard all of my stories (and know which ones I've made up or embellished) and know the punchlines to most of my jokes -- and found my attention wandering.

Zod, freaking fantastic self-interview!

Our minds are the greatest toy we have. Yes, e-friends, even cooler than a Jazzmaster plugged into a Twin Reverb, tho that level of superlative-cool is difficult to comprehend.

So play with your minds. Back to your self-interview...

...As the colourfully-garbed, impossibly hip denizens of the great metropolis of Chicago exclaim with great enthusiasm, accompanied with flourishing gestures and elaborate hand choreography...

"...You go, Man!"

And who was the philosopher who said, "An unexamined life is a wasted life." (?)

Or, as those great American mid 20th century philosophers, Jefferson Airplane proclaimed...

"...FEED YOUR HEAD!"

No, must say I haven't. But I will try...

Me: how am I feeling today?

Me: I feel fine..and me?

Me: Fine as well

Me: why do I play the bass?

Me: well started on guitar but got sick of broken strings, tuning problems,
noise, hum, setting up all the effects and all the knob turning and tweaking.

Me: Oh so I switched to bass essentially because I am lazy?

Me: pretty much.

Me: alrighty then..have a nice day

Me: me too.

Hahaha! I like that bit. When I was a schoolboy (about 1863, that would be) there was a kid who bought himself a nice black immitation Les Paul. 'Cept he called it a Lay Paul, like it was French. The painful bit is that the rest of us didn't laugh at him for it - 'cause we just weren't quite certain on that point ourselves...

Incidentally, anyone who has ever seen some of the very interesting and informative interviews the classical pianist Glenn Gould gave on television, especially a famous series of programs he did for the BBC. It turned out some while later that he wrote those entire interviews himself before hand, answers and questions. He was too neurotic and controlling to be interviewed unprepared. The program makers went along with it in order just to get him on film...

Bizarro.

Cheers - C
