we play a local venue, an upscale restaurant. Jazz. some lady got a little tipsy and was trying to dance. she fell right in front of me and broke her hip. The drummer wanted to help her but I rightly told the band not to touch her. Now I feel bad, but hell, I'm not getting us sued. The restaurant closed early and we didn't complete the set. Bummer

edit: well not too much of a bummer. I got paid and we were only there for around an hour. We were half way through the 3rd song. Plus we are usually only around until about now anyway. Ive been home more than an hour. God, playing a gig for senior citizens rocks! but not tonight. poor lady

You did the right thing. Nowdays the most one should do is to make sure the person remains still until help arrives unless its life threatening. Now go write a song about her getting the blues.....just funning with ya.

only an hour? Jeez, I paid $30 or $40 bucks to see Chuck Berry around 4 years ago. He did that one song "do you want me to stay....etc". He then duck walked off the stage and we never saw him again. We all figured it was an intermission because he had only played for a half hour, but when the lights came up we all knew the concert was over.

The only thing I would worry about now is, was she just too drunk to walk and/or dance? Or did she trip on something and then fall? And if she tripped on something, was it something you brought in, or was it something owned by or in the restaurant? I'm just saying if she was just too drunk to walk, then its her fault. If she got tangled in lets say a table cloth and then fell, the restaurant may be at fault. If she tripped over something you brought in as far as gear or stageshow, you may want to have a lawyers number within reach just in case she somehow feels that you are somehow responsible, fully or partially, for her injuring herself.

had nothing to do with us whatsoever. we have a little stage platform that we are always on. no chords anywhere except near the back. We even use wireless outputs for the guitar and bass

He said that a customer fell and broke her hip so the restaurant closed early.

we were playing, she fell, the restaurant management came out and asked us to stop until the paramedics came, once they came and left, a good majority of the patrons had left. senior citizens get tired early. so he just closed it down to save cost i guess. Our female vocalist and piano player play before we go on, leaving the majority of the music to be soft and nice during dinner hours. then when it starts winding down and the drinking traffic builds up, we come on. this means half the band doesnt need to be there for the first few hours.

we are a house band at a restaurant for old people. its not too demanding lol.

Good grief -- the guy's 81 years old! But yeah, he's infamous for short shows! Classic!!
