Hey guys, I just wanted to formally introduce myself to my fellow forum-folk. So here goes...

My name is Phil - I’m a 38 So-Cal native – I’ve been playing Bass and Guitar for maybe 23 years now – I think I can consider myself as being a quasi-professional musician, meaning: I have been commissioned throughout the past to do some studio work on both Bass and Guitar.

I’ve never really been a “serious” musician (until fairly recently) – I’ve always played guitar and bass because it was easy for me to do from the get-go and I absolutely love jamming with musicians whom are skilled in their craft.

I’ve had Fender instruments in the past whether they be amps, guitars or basses, I’ve had ‘em. The last Fender I owned was an Olympic White American Standard Strat in which I dropped some EMG, David Gilmour single coils on a white/pearl pickguard which felt/looked/sounded sexy as hell and I had an ’86 Jazz Special that I dropped a P-J set of EMG’s in and installed a Badass II – both guitars which I totally regret getting rid of.

I currently play bass for a trio out in Chino, CA called Guttwrench. I’d say that band is a metal/hard rock type of deal – very groove-oriented - somewhat stoner rockish. I love playing with those guys; the chemistry between the three of us is killer, and the drummer is my rhythmical soul-mate. I also play guitar for a band out in North Hollywood, CA called Butcher. That band is a female-fronted art-rock/post-metal type of deal. We’ve played some pretty big shows which I was absolutely grateful to be part of. We have one album/EP available on Amazon.com/iTunes and we’re gonna be releasing a full-length LP pretty soon.

I’ve recently built myself a really nice – high quality Koa Jazz bass that absolutely rules! I don’t think I can say it blows away my Yamaha 4-string because they’re both entirely different tools – but I’d have to say, I’m SO favoring my Jazz bass right now, and NOT because it’s my new toy – but because it’s a really, really nice bass guitar. The sound, feel, balance, tone; man, everything about that bass is more than what I expected out of it.

I love collaborating/creating with people no matter what the style of music. I really enjoy meeting new people and making new friends. If there’s anything I can do to help out my friends – I’m the type of guy that will go out of his way to help someone in need. I’ve recorded/engineered/produced bands in the studio – I’ve done sound reinforcement since the late 80’s and I just dig meeting unsung musicians/bands of the underground.

My name's Phil, I’m very pleased to make your acquaintance!

Welcome...

Yep! We've been around the block a couple of times about that DG-20. Had to have looked smashing in a white guitar. Had one in a natural finish that also looked great.

Doc

Hey Phil, have you gotten a chance to take "real" pix - as you say - of your homemade bass yet? Cool pix on stage by the way. :D

Welcome to the Forum's Phil.
Nice to meet you.
My name is Mark.
I'm 45 and have been playing guitar for 29 years.
I've played lots of styles over the years, but classic metal and Texas blues are my favorites.
