An older band I have listened to is Return to Forever (Romatic Warrior).

RTF...great choice! Another great fusion band from the time was Weather Report.

The Weather Report, eh? I'd like to check them out. Who played in the band?

Just "Weather Report." Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter formed the nucleus, and they were supported by a wide range of one-of-kind geniuses, notably Peter Erskine and Alex Acuna on drums and both Miroslav Vitous and the legendary Jaco Pastorius on bass. The greatest. Incredible. So far beyond what was called "fusion" that they defined their own genre.

Thanks for the information on this band. I will be looking into finding some of their recordings.

1. Duane Eddy and the Rebels - Got me inspired to play guitar

2. Johnny & the Hurricanes - Saw them im person twice, pre-Beatles very cool, post Beatles not so cool

3. Bill Black Combo - Inspired me to switch to bass; Cool sounding and I love to play in "C"

Booker T. and the MG's are my favorite. "Green Onions" and "Hang 'em High" are my favorite songs by them.

Well for me the only two guys I can listen to continuos that play pure instrumentals is Satriani and Beck. I find it hard to find anyone that can beat Satch in the melody department and Beck is probably the best player on the planet.
