I know the answer to this one already.

But, perhaps some people would like to share their loss!

Mine would be:

An actual '72 Tele Thinline.

My Sunn Septer Amp.

I also had a Fender Vibrolux Reverb amp that someone stole from a rehersal space.

I traded away my MiM Standard Strat for a Jackson DKMG for two weeks till I got my old Strat back. I regretted the trade so much I couldn't sleep.

The answer is Yes! I'm selling my new 65 Twin Reverb RI tonight. I know I'll regret it but I'm trying to put together enough to buy a 57 Twin Tweed RI. The wife says some has to go if some more is coming!? What do I do? I won't even tell you about the equipment that has gone over the years! Oh well, life goes on.

Several times!

Original '65 Deluxe Reverb amp.

Rivera Fender Concert amp.

late 50's Fender Esquire (this was traded in the 60's before relic'd guitars were in demand and it was a natural relic fer sure!)

Too many more to mention. I had a guy come into a club in Florida that wanted $100 for a "real" Hofner Beatle Bass. (I only had about $50 on me but my bandmate/bassist bought it and recently re-sold for over $3000.)

I have a trail of tears for you. I never kept a bunch of instruments. I traded them and sold them one after the other.

Mid-sixties ES-345 cherry sunburst with mahogony shaded sides. dead mint.

Bolnde with oxblood grill Bandmaster with two cabinets. (A vintage full stack) I had the brown cloth covers for all three pieces, and a blonde Fender tube reverb unit.

Gretsch Rock Jet with PAF Filterons.

Pre CBS Tele with stock Bigsby (no body drill)

Old Gibson J-185. Gruhn Guitars offered me a trade for a 1957 Les Paul Custom with three Humbuckers.

I sold a very old (40's, early 50's) National amp to David Lindley for $80.

I gotta stop thinking about this now. :(

Oh what the heck...I'm still rockin'.

YES! But I've told the story on here too many times. One more time won't hurt -- I had to sell my '71 sunburst Mustang with classic gray rectangular case with the gawd awful orange plush interior special ordered from the old Fullerton factory (sunbursts were uncommon, everyone wanted the Competition Mustang at the time). Also included in the sale was one Univox practice amp, a Univox Super-Fuzz (worth a small fortune today), a no-name wah pedal, cables, picks, even my sheet music. Gave up on my budding career as a rocker for book 'n' tuition money for college. I don't remember exactly what I got for it all . . . but I know it wasn't nearly enough.

It was my first Fender. I loved that guitar.

I think the only things I've regret selling are the Stu Hamm Urge (1st short scale edition) and my Trace Elliot amp - combo but it was 350w, back then it was kinda a big deal for a combo. Other than that I try not to sell anything anymore. I've got what I have on my sig and my accoustic BG29 Fender. I wouldn't sell my '87 for sentimental value. As far as my Squiers go, I wouldn't even be able to afford any new basses anymore, so probably not selling them anytime soon either.

Two instruments. Both actually belonged to my old friend. Different times.

When he needed money, I bought them off of him with the promise to sell them back to him when he got the cash.

One was a Univox copy of a doublecut Les Paul Jr.
The other was a Gibson Thunderbird bass.

Yes..too many times.

I've told this before but since this is a topic now.....

When I was around 8 years old my parents were divorced and my mom was dating a guy that was a music instrument dealer and a guitar player. He introduced me to Fender, Gibson, Ibanez..the best ones. we lived in NYC and he used to get me down stairs of Mannys Music where I got to play guitars that were once actually owned by clapton and big timers like that.

So over the years I had a small collection of 70's Strats and a tele. But by this time I was a young teen and didn't consider the value..so all were sold (very cheaply I might add). Now that I can actually play and appreciate them..I can not even come close to affording another....yet.

So I have some regret but also am fortunate to have owned them in the past and understand why they are so in demand now.

The only thing I ever got rid of was my first guitar--a waste of good plywood K-Mart special acoustic I bought for $10 years ago--it was on sale. I got $10 for it.

I never really bonded with it, and stopped playing it after I got my classical.

Never missed it.

Always regretted selling any guitars I have owned, but 3 in particular
1985 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Silverburst finish.
1979 Fender Musicmaster(my first electric guitar)
1984 Dean Belaire
Oh well, live and learn!!

Nope. The things I have sold have been perfectly good, but no longer were meeting my needs. I have a few things I should sell.

I decided to learn the bass about 5 years ago and bought a peavey milestone bass from a local shop near me in the uk, due to work commitments i hardly ever picked it up let alone learn it but it was my first bass and i regret selling it, i never went near a bass for 4 years after that, then bought 2 basses last year to learn on, them 2 basses served their purpose for a few months then i sold them on and bought a MIM Precision, i dont miss them basses at all but i aint selling my precision for nobody, i've since bought a squire precision and i love em both to bits. :D

I regret selling my 1st Peavey Wolfgang guitar. Glad to see Fender making these again.

I actually picked up another Wolfgang a few yrs later, always wanted that vibe back. Good thread, keep it rolling!
