My first was a 62 Mustang I bought from my uncle in 67 -- that and an Ampeg Jet for $100. I still have the neck, back plate, pups, etc. but they're all attached to a 72 Racing Stripe body.

I was refinishing the original and this same uncle offered to have the paint shop where he worked do the paint once I had it ready. I gave it to him, months went by then I heard he'd divorced my aunt. No one ever found the body, so the neck and parts sat in a box for a few years. By then, I'd bought a Les Paul clone (one from the infamous period where someone let their patent expire and Ibanez and a whole bunch of no name Korean clones hit the market here) that I used in the band.

But in 74, I was dating someone who expressed some interest in playing rhythm in my band. She only had an old acoustic though, and money was a bit tight. Then I saw the body in the window of a pawn shop and the rest is history. The girl is long gone but I still have the guitar!

I would say it's one of the more important material items I possess

right up there with my Ripper, my 4001 and my Jackson.

House and car are high up on the list too.

There are a couple of lists way higher than these though -- for sure

And yes, that is a good old roll and tuck Kustom 200 behind me! :)

I've been a P Bass guy ever since.......

Greg Brady called and he wants his shirt back!

Actually, I think I had that shirt once too.

I wouldn't say ANYTHING else... But it should be a prized possesion.

I agree but my first Fender was a 65 red Mustang, Sure would like it back. In those days it was concidered a students guitar.

I mean no offense, but the Mustang, duosonic etc still are "student" guitars nothing has changed about that. They are less expensive guitars intended for people to learn on (and then move on to something better). I suppose folks who could afford better maybe played 'em because they are different from Strats and Teles and the player thought that it made them "cool".

my first electric guitar is a Fender Strat
a MIM '96 Fender Traditional Fat Strat
it accompany me for more than 10 years now
and is the only electric guitar I need
the purchase was made possible at that time
due to the affordable price
it was around the same price of a mid range Squire

My first Fender was a 1977 Strat that I bought new. I still have it, but I hardly play it! My "Leftys" are much easier to play! Here's a pic of me playing it in 1978. Image

My first Guitar was a copy of a Jackson Off Set Flying V.

2nd was a Fender Squire HM III.

3rd was a Korean made Fender Knock-off (didn't know that when I bought it, was hoping for a deal). Still it was a good $100 (US) purchace when I was there. I did not bring my Guitar with mne to Korea.

4th was a BC Rich Warlock NJ Series.

5th was a ESP LTD MH 100 QM

6th was a Fender HWY 1.

Look below at what I have left.

My 7th purchace will be a MIM HSS with the Floyd Rose and be added to my sig. But that won't happen for a wile now.
