I wouldn't part with my MIM Standard for anything short of a million dollars.
I got it in 98, it was my first guitar and I was 14. I had been learning on my dads ovation from the start and it was time I had something of my own. 10 years later and she is still my favorite. Of course, theres been quite a few helpful modifications to keep her at the top.

I Started playing as a kid and gave it up in my 20's, started to play again at 42 after a heart attack gave me a wake up call, got my first fender earlier this year and you can have it if you can pry it out of my cold dead hand.

just hope to play it well enough to do it justice one day.

As far as possessions, my first Fender (78 Musicmaster) is definitely special but my favorite is my Montara a/e, or my MIM Strat, nah it's the Montara.

I think :? How to choose?

My musicmaster bass was also intended to be a "student" guitar. But when people get a chance to play it and see how smooth it is, how close the action is, etc. They really like it.

Did you keep yours. I hope so, wish I'd kept mine. I guess the best policy is not to sell any equipment unless you have to do so to buy something else. I'd have quite a collection by now but............?

Yes, I still have and regularly use my Musicmaster, it's too smooth to let go. Go to the thread "photos of your Musicmaster Bass" to hear how I got it and see photos.

Here's one from a gig last spring, before I threw the Favre jersey away.

Too much prima donna for me. Embarassed his own legacy.

But yeah, love that bass, can't see parting ways with it.

First Fender was 24 years into playing guitar, an American Standard Stratocaster.

Impression was; nice, unique, not a huge thing. Not played all that much. Next was a Jazzmaster 7 years later. That was one sweetheart of ta guitar.

The Strat was redone this year with 11 flats and pro setup and became a much more liked instrument. The Jazzmaster received AVRI pups in 07 and is even more outstanding.

I agree, was just kidding. I think he should have stayed retired like he said, but I'll let the OP get on. later

My MIM Strat is my first Fender. I wouldn't say it's my favorite (Mine is an American Deluxe), but it is what I consider my workhorse. I use it all the time and it takes most of the punishment from my playing.
