Looking for some assistance here.

I have several original songs I have recorded and they were created on a Tascam Porta Studio 414 Analog (Tape) Machine.

Does anyone know of a way to get these converted to digital format so I can post them to the internet?

I've been told "no" in the past and then I wondered, how did all the classics that were recorded on reel to reel tape get converted to CD?

Anyone have any ideas how I might do this?

Check the input plugs on the back of your PC. Some soundcards allow for midi inputs and almost always a stereo microphone input. Cable the Tascam to the PC and use the free sound recorder that comes with Windows XP accessories to record it in an .mp3 or .wav format. At worse, you may need to run to Radio Shack for the proper cheap connecting cable, if you don't have one that came from Tascam already.

Thanks for the tip, but as previously stated, I work in MAC, not PC.

Hey Bo,

Your help was very much appreciated. At least it was technology that shows that what I am trying to accomplish CAN BE DONE. The guy I originally spoke with either did not get what I meant or just was not up to snuff on this stuff. I should be smart enough to Google what I am looking for, but from what everyone said here shows/tells me they have had experience with the technology, and that was also what I needed to hear. I know I can trust people I have already met here to point me in the right direction.

Thanks again to you Bo, GravityJim, thouston, MiamiMike and Chris63.

Oh, a Mac, I didn't see that the first time. I didn't think about the iMic, and I have one. I have the first version. I didn't use it that much because I couldn't hear the audio while it was being recording. The new version fixed that design flaw.

Good to know. Along with the new Strat I am buying, I better put my bucks away and upgrade to digital recording. I wouldn't mind redoing some of the songs I composed.
