'Accumulate and hoard books, not to collect, but to read. Parting with them is difficult.

You can't have too many gun clips. Never know when the gubmint-run state police  might come knocking!

I used to collect sports cards, but I gave them all to my son and who knows what he did with them? Many were rookie cards from the NFL and MLB with some rare NBA and NHL (Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Bobby Orr, Larry Bird, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, etc.)

I think that he sold/traded them and bought a Digidesign M-Box 2 Mini interface.

I've been accused of OCD myself, so funny that you would mention that.

Any photos of your collections....?

I actually don't have any photos but I could probably get one of my mugs fairly easy. Sports cards are all neatly organized in folders and since I began treatment most of my continuation of the collections is "by choice."

trust me, if you had actual OCD you would know it, in even it's least severe form it is a major life hinderance... and if you do know it and want to talk about it I can be found at myspace. com/kerouac75

I was not trying to take your condition lightly by any means. My wife has asked me to get tested, but we've just worked it out.

My main compulsion is cleaning, the house and stuff. I will routinely vaccuum and clean when it might be ok to her. When I come home every day the first thing I do is just walk around and put things away, a pair of shoes left over there, a backpack not hung in the right spot, a wrapper from the living room table, etc. My wife and I just talk while I do that til I'm content.

That KISS collection of mine, I routinely dust that to keep it clean, or stop and adjust one figure that isn't hanging right etc. Little things like that.

We've learned to live with it. Mild case if I actually have it I'd guess. Hat's off to you for working through it.

HAHA! No worries, I wasn't insulted in the least bit. You just sound annoyed by clutter and mess. There really isnt a test. I have like 150 coffee mugs, and literally thousands of baseball cards. If I don't play either bass or guitar for 1-2 hours per day I start getting to the point where it is all I think about. And I mean ALL I think about. Then it will be ALL I talk about, etc. etc.

and that is a GOOD compulsion! LOL

Bottle caps?

Hadn't thought of that one but they're colorful, small, probably easier to transport if you move that boxing up some of this other stuff.

Annoyed more by mess than anything, you can neatly arrange clutter you know, look at my KISS collection, cluttered but neat. Neat, that's the key for me.

Glad you've managed to steer your compulsion to playing rather than cleaning.

A classic in movie history....

Thanx to all for your responses here, it's been so interesting to see that I'm not the only one packing my home with stuff other people would never think of keeping.

4 PAGES on this thread? Pretty cool.
