I don't know about Simmons tongue but I saw the thing about Sabbaths guitarist on TV and you know you can believe everything you see on TV!??

That almost sounded like a slam.....? Maybe not, I'm not sure I guess. If it was, hey no worries, I'm a KISS fan so I've heard worse.

Here's a clip where you can see the caps on Tony's fingers, he's talking about how the accident happened, how he made the caps, etc. This is an excerpt from the home vid "The Last Supper"

No slam at all intended my friend. I did see the video and that's all. Hope you did not take it wrong. I'm also a Kiss fan!

No worries, that's why I put in the "i'm not sure" part. It's all good. I must have missed the note of sarcasm, 8)

Personally, I find it fascinating that he made fingertips to play guitar and out of that necessity formulated such a legendary sound.

He says that's why he invented the so-called triad of metal sound. My earlier remark was a poor attempt to joke about TV and newspapers, media in all . so please take no offense in my comment my brother! 8)

It's all good.

And you're right about the media too.

No, that isn't a myth about Tony Iommi's fingers. I have a dvd copy of the "History of Metal/VH1 special" where he talks about the machine that cut off two of his fingertips. Than he designed some "caps" for his fingers, used lighter strings, and detuned his guitar to make playing possible again. That combination of things is behind his "dark" sound on guitar.

[/quote]

this is off iommi's website www.iommi.com
"Here are Tony’s string gauges on the live guitars:-

For the D# tuning,
.008p, .008p, .011p, .018w, .024w, .032w.

For the C# tuning,
.009p, .010p, .012p, .020w, .032w, .042w. "

wow...

Wife is a surgical nurse. She agrees bagels are deadly.

Many cuts are into the web between thumb and forefinger and sever muscles and ligaments.

Excellent clinical material.

FYI....there ARE bagel cutters which will do the job nicely and obviate the need to use a knife.

There are also situations in which one should consider wearing heavy work gloves when doing operations which might potentially result in injury. Those of you whose hands are an integral part of maintaining your livelihood should think twice about attempting anything potentially disabling. Not withstanding your enjoyment of the effort, best invest in someone else's labor and save yourself from a potential disaster of immense proportions.

I have personal anecdotes of colleagues who suffered same, and an entire professional career gone down the drain.

Doc
