Do you remember what you were doing when you heard the news?

We (the band) had just finished a string of gigs in the Maryland/DC
area and had traveled to Virginia to play some dates in around the Norfolk area. We had heard the news on the radio but didn't really
understand exactly what was going on.

We arrived about 10am on that fateful morning to these images on all of the networks...

More than I can type races through my mind.

Instead I will recall that I sat at my computer watching the news on my
desktop in media player & I was already watching the news as it all unfolded..
(Back then I used to stream video of whatever was on my TV
from my house so there was a 30 - 50 second delay or whatever.)
My shift at work was about to end here in Florida (night shift ending
9am est but 2nd shift was late showing up).
My first thought was maybe a small plain or something, but my opinion
quickly changed.
It's not like I had seen accidents with planes flying into buildings in the
past that I could recall.
Then more planes, & the pentagon!
The whole way home all the radio stations were going on about how
significant this normal day had become or somthing to that nature.
While driving I wondered about the possibilities of what was to come next.
(Some other nation or military attacking us maybe?)
7 years ago now, it seems like yesterday to me.

I was at work in a Computer control room in a Hardened bunker for a major telcom at the time. We watched the whole thing on TV. I have never gotten over the whole ordeal. We had a 48 hour lock down in the center as a result. Nobody was allowed to enter or leave the premises for the entire 48 hours. My wife was at home with a newborn at the time and was very upset that I couldn't be there with her and the baby.

Construction continued yesterday at ground zero in lower Manhattan as the city prepared for today's seventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

On September 10th, the day before the attack, I was in New York City meeting with colleagues. That night in the hotel I was reading a copy of Eerdman's World Religions, an objective summary of the world's religions written with the student and theologian in mind. I found it odd that the book's chapter on Islam was unique in that it described Islam in tragic terms. I paraphrase that it is the consensus of theologians that Islam is defined by the fanatic element of the religion. I raised an eyebrow, finished the chapter, and moved on within the book.

The next morning I was on one of the top floors of the skyscraper at Penn Station. The news arrested our attention. We stood at the window and watched the towers burn an collapse. Almost everyone with me had friends or family that worked in or near the Towers. You can imagine the mood.

I remember that fateful day. I was living in Arizona at the time. I was getting ready for work and watching the news. It was like it was a work of fiction. I stared at the screen in disbelief. It truly was a shocking site.

While the others rushed out, they rushed in.

I was about 8, and I was just about to go to karate when my mom put on the news...
I can't believe it's been this long already! I think all too often people forget why we're over their fighting, and that is (hopefully) remembered today...

I was living in NYC when the towers were hit. I was teaching a class at the time (audio engineering) when the director of the school interuppted the class and pulled me in the office. He pointed to a TV and explained that we were "being attacked". The most horrifying moment of my life.

A friend of mines father was a port authority police officer and gave his life rescuing others when a building collapsed on him. I will never forget that day.

I was in a hanger bldg. about 8 miles from DC. we were doing a rigging
job down on the floor and a Officer came by and said you guys ought to take a break and go up to the break room and check the news out. A plane hit the Trade Center and it is on fire. So I went up to the penthouse deck walked in the room and was standing there and a few minutes latter the other plane came into view and struck the other tower could not beleive what I saw. Within minutes we were in lock down and non essential personal was being sent home for the day. Security closed all outside access along the far perimiter with gates and vehicles. Thats when we were told there was another inbound plane headed toward DC. That was the one that went down in PA. We lost two of our staff at the Pentagon.

I also think this needs mentioning.

I remember the train station by my house. For days after the attacks there were several vehicles that had not been moved. The 7-11 by the station would have an increasing number of signs on the window every day with pictures of commutors stating "have you seen this person?".

As sad as this is, good can come out of it. We need to remember how NYC, the country and much of this world were pulling together. Something happened (at the risk of getting political) the last few years that is pulling us apart. Each one of us can help change that by starting with ourselves.

The memory of those who died..as victims or as heros deserve at least that.

Be pissed. Your country was attacked by people who want you dead.

You got a point there bro. But make sure we are pissed at the people who deserve it..not just occupy any country in order to "fight them there".

I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade I think (a hard hit to the head during the 3rd-4th grade vacation has jarred my memory since). It was a normal day, didn't even hear what happened 'till my mom got home that day.

I don't understand why any one would do such a thing. Thinking of it makes me want to find the guy behind it and make him have the most painful death possible...
