Well, I don't know if you guys have noticed, but I haven't been posting a whole lot lately, but, that is because I wanted to make my posts more meaningful and worthwhile....

Well, I finally have something that I think is worthwhile, I hope you guys agree...

The world we live in now, is one of instant gratification... People no longer want to put in the effort to get a good final product. We all just want the final product without first putting in the hard work and effort to earn and achieve a good final product... If we want to be good at art, we pick an easy project just to get a good final product, because we know it won't challenge us enough to make us work, and that we can easily achieve something "great". In things like music, we no longer want to know how to play the real instrument, we just want to pick something that looks like it up and have something sound "great". We don't want to learn how to become good at sports, instead, we pick up a controller and get the feeling that we are really "great" at something that we really can't do at all.

If we don't like the way we look, we just replace what we don't like. If we have something that stops working, we just replace it. If we have something that gets outdated, but still works fine, we just replace it, and throw the old one away.

If you watch T.V. then you will know what I am talking about. You see commercials for these attorneys and people who will "win" you money in settlements.

If you were about to die, and your doctor had the choice of give you a medicine that isn't good for you, or let you die, he gave you the one that would save your life. Now, years later, you claim you are suffering from the medicine that just saved your life, so now you have a lawsuit against the doctor that saved your life, just to get some "fast cash".

People no longer want to earn their money, instead, they just want it handed to them...

Well, these are just a few thoughts. Let me know what you think. Any conversations about this are welcome...

At the risk of sounding political, this is the age of entitlements. The country, (and the world for that matter), has become complacent. Governments have been giving free handouts in the form of healthcare, welfare, grants, pork barrel projects and other programs for decades. This has bred an entire generation who are dependent on these programs. This, unfortunately, tends to keep certain people in power.

What can we do?

Become active in your community, write letters to your representatives in government and, most importantly, get out and VOTE.

You don't have to tell me. I used to work at BestBuy.

What I experienced there in a nut shell was people spending money all day on stuff they don't actually need. And the quality control of this "stuff"..well, non existant. There is no more pride in manufacturing anymore..it's all about mass production by the giga ton..preferably built as fast and cheap as possible using the poorest quailty materials (some harmful to us) with absolutly no quality control whatsoever.

It's like the consumer has become the "field tester". There was a time when feild testing was actually performed by the manufacturer before a product was released. Now it's just about making more money as quickly as possible and let the chips fall where they may.

Ok felt good to vent that, thanks.

I agree with what was posted.A lot of people, especially today's youth, have this sense of entitlement and don't want to make the effort to earn what they have, but rather pester mommy and daddy until they get what they want. I blame the parents for becoming complacent and giving in to the needs and wants of their children rather than putting their foot down and making them earn their keep the old fashioned way, by working for it.

I agree. Unfortunately though, I am categorized in today's "youth". I however, enjoy working for the final product.
