I'm considering buying a 12 string Strat.Anybody have any experience with them? Will they fit in a standard strat case?

Go for it. It has a great jangly sound and a compressor will enhance that sound and yes, it fits in a standard Strat case.

Yes it will fit in the standard case. I believe it is MIM (I could be wrong), but it is still really nice.

Back in the day, I was working in a guitar shop in SoCal. There was this one customer who used to get daddy to buy him gear, then he'd basically destroy it due to his own stupidity and try to off it for next to nothing.

One day he brought in an Epiphone acoustic 12 string. He'd tightened the strings on it too tightly and ripped the neck loose from the body. What he failed to realize is that the neck was bolted into the block and could easily be removed and put on another guitar. He wanted to get rid of the evidence, and offered it to me for $10. I took the neck and bolted it onto a Tele body that I had laying around, modded the bridge to accept the octave strings, and put 'er together. It was easily one of the best sounding and playing guitars I've ever owned!

The one I tried out at a local music store said it was made in Mexico.

It was quite nice, but a bit out of the price range I was looking at that day. After I got a bonus at work, it was sold. An I've decided on a different guitar anyway--but maybe one day--I'd like an electric 12 string (I have an acoustic one.) And the Strat 12 was a very nice player.

I have one; got it in May this year. They play great; sound very cool and like the guy above says they will fit a standard Strat case. If you put a strap lock on that sticks out very far you'll have to slightly shoe horn it in but it'll be ok.

There are two types of 12 String Strats as far as I know. There is an 80s MIJ version and a more recent 2000+ CIJ version.

They differ in design but both are fantastic 12 String Electrics. There's no way you would ever consider playing a Riccy 12 after you play a Fender one... 8)

I have never heard of these being made in Mexico. :?:

I could be mistaken--but it may also have to do with the US/Canada markets as well. But I can't even go back and check the one I saw--it was sold quickly.
