Hi everybody! This is my first post.

I've a 25 year old dude who's always had typical rock star dreams, and I've wanted a Strat forever. I can awkwardly fumble around an acoustic a little bit, but that's as far as I've gotten at this point...

Well, I'm finally getting a Strat. It's in the mail as we speak, and should arrive within a week or so. I'm beyond excited and losing sleep over it.

A friend of mine is selling me her Strat that she has no use for. However, it doesn't come with any sort of case or gig bag, so I'm gonna have to seek one out.

The guitar in question is a near-mint, LEFT HANDED, Fender Standard Stratocaster. Yeah, I'm a lefty. My question is this...

Do standard-issue Fender gig bags accommodate lefty Strats, or are they strictly form fitted for their right-handed sisters?

Would appreciate any feedback. I'm sure I'll be hassling you all with dozens of other embarrassing rookie questions once the guitar arrives.

Thanks!

Gig bags are soft and don't offer much protection.
Look for a hard shell case, either from Fender or one of many other case makers.

They run around 50$

Any case or gig bag made for a strat should fit either orientation. :)

Dude, yeah, they fit, but read the thread "Sad Story... and don't use the gigbags". Seriously, they are terrible.

I agree with these guys, gig bags offer hardly any protection at all. If you love your Strat, which you will, it deserves a case.

I have a hard case for all my guitars. Even the $200 Epi. It's just worth it to protect your instruments. Under $100 for a case or several (many) hundreds of dollars for a replacement guitar.
