Hey guys, I am replacing a lot of the parts on my strat (and putting in black parts) and what I want to know is if I would be able to put this Schaller trem in my 2007 MIM Standard HSS http://schaller-guitarparts.de/hp14771/Tremolo-2000.htm

And if so, how hard would it be to do? I think I would be able to do it on my own without having a tech do it, but there could be something I am overlooking.

Thanks

Well, it says its a Strat-type trem, so I don't see why you couldn't put it in your Strat...

i dont think so, becouse that bridge is a two point one and your MIM standard has a 6 point vintage style.....

I must disagree with you here. :) I've been told that a six-point bridge could be modded to a two-pointer, but not the other way around.

What would that mod entail?

I have done several six-screw to two-point conversions, and a couple of two-point to six-screw. Both are do-able, though a perfect finish under a transparent lacquer is near impossible.

However, unless there is a really important reason I would strongly recommend against either mod. Too much effort and brutality to the guitar for little gain. And you need good skills at the job in order not to permanently ruin the instrument.

Stick to the type you've got: very good upgrades are available for either six-screw or two-point trems. The best way to go.

Cheers - C
