I wouldn`t think a guitar made out of country would hold or increase in value as American made Fenders, but I may be wrong on that. I guess it depends on what people are into and sometimes they just put things away thinking it will increase in value over time.
Just lok at what the Tokai's sell for the Strat from the 80's are almost a grand most times and the ES guitars there well over that much.

With the modern CNC machines used now days if you have a good body blank and neck blank you can have a guitar that is put together good from anywhere. What it is going to be different is going to be things like tuners, picukps, switches. There are companies in Korea and China that have been making guitars a long time many are high quality. The best Japan made Fenders I think are the ones that were made by FujiGen who made them for like 15 years. A lot of nice guitar have come from Siean, (Shine)Samick, Tokia, FujiGen which are Korean,Chinese, and Japanese companies

the MIK lite ash strat is a great exsample
i would match this strat with MIA'S any day.
most of the parts in this strat are american made.

I have some Korean made Epi guitars they are very well made. Both fit and finish are high quality. I have looked at both Chinese and Korean made Samicks and they played nice. Not sure who makes the Korean Fenders but would realy like to no because they are nice. Maybe someone on the forum will no that answer and let us all no.

hi my friend the MIK lite ash fender strats are made
in the CORT factory i'm almost 100% shure of that.
please correct me if i'm wrong. and you are wright
they are all using the same machines the usa use
to cut the body's and necks and in the case of the
MIK lite ash strat they are also using some american parts.

Most of the Squiers that are CI Indonesia are from the Cort factory too, the serial # would be IC (C for Cort), if it's IS (S is for Sammick). The standard for the CNC milling and all are the same now, just the luthiers are paid differently. In my opinion, the MIA still holds the mistique of Fender of old, the highest quality possible, in a way it's true, but look at the vintage MIJ - not the CIJ, since CIJ's started in the '90s IIRC - they are holding value, if not increasing in value. Not sure if the CIC will be up there anytime soon. Look at the CIK, Korean stuff are becoming really good quality wise. The 24v are CIK IIRC. Bass Player mag rated them pretty high.

Buy foreign made products by all means :!:
But if you do don't complain when your countries (whatever country you are in) economy tanks.

Global sourcing: striving to bring everyone everywhere down to the same third world levels.

I've got a Squier Strat that's "crafted in China" from the late 1990s. It was always good. No problems for years, although it's developed a vicious crackle after years of use and I probably need to change some of the electronics to get it back up to snuff. The design, though, is not up to the same standard as the Mexican and American Stratocasters. The knobs are different and they stick up off the body. The pickups are a nice fascimile of the classic Fender sound that I get in abundance from my CS Tx Spc pickups I loaded into my Highway One, but they are not exactly the same. The ceramics in the Squier have their own sweet spots where they can sound pretty good and suggest the classic sound, but unlike my Highway One as modded or an American, they don't exactly have that sound. They're a little scratchy for lack of a more articulate description, and where the Tx Specials really shine with incredible tone - plenty of gain in the neck or neck/mid - they sound not so great. Also, the Squier pickups have much more 60-cycle hum than the TxSpc, and lack the hum cancelling feature in the reverse-polarity neck.

The problem with guitars crafted in china and other places like that, is usually the quality. You probably got lucky.
