Doc about 10 or so years ago I was into CB radios and even had a liscense to operate a ham radio (I can't remember the name of it) but I belonged to different clubs all over the world, heck I even had the capability to listen in on the space shuttle and ships at sea. I'm sure the FCC would not have liked it but I really enjoyed talking to and helping people world wide. I had a 125 foot tower and I'm not going to mention how many watts I had. (don't know the how long they can come after me) Anyway I sure do miss it. 8)

Steve, you said it...we are also here (Coral Springs, and it had me sweating...

Once I get myself organized down in Boca, and have some idea of what my time frames are down there, it would be nice to starting talking about setting up something we used to do about 20 years ago when CB radios were a very popular form of communicating during daily commutes.

We called them "eyeballs". It was a monthly gathering, at a local 'watering hole' for an evening shooting the breeze. These could even evolve into monthy 'jams' and who know what else.

There used to be an operation in lower Manhattan called "The Off-Wall Street Jam.'' It was a rehearsal hall operation that brought together musician-hobbyists of all stripe and the used to have a monthly "jam'' evening of entertainment in a club up the street and member bands would sign up to peform.

This could be an interesting expansion of the Forums activities, local, state regional, and who knows, perhaps a national or international contest...what we used to call 'band wars' back in the '50's.

(Now just watch Brad go dashing into the front office with this 'aha' and Fender copyright the term.)

Let's kick it around, dudes.[/quote]

It would be fun to get together. I don't have a lot of time with the new job making a lot of demands on me. Also, I have not made good on my promise to myself to post less and play more. There is one good thing -- the new job is in Boca !!

Back then: in Morris Country NJ I was known as 'Dr. Zarkov', and across the rive in NYC...'Trapper John' (someone on Staten Island already 'owned' my NJ handle.

I will only have about a fortnight down there this year, as well as an upside down schedule at this writing, but there may be some changes over the next 24 months. It's something to look forward to.

If you can believe it my name was Louisiana Redeye and while the U.S.A. was helping the Afgans fight the Russians I was known as The Afgan Rebel. I will probably get investigated by our government now because I typed afgan plus rebel. You know they monitor everything! Sometimes I'm afraid to talk to the wife in our home!

Interesting....I would ask you to comment on your choice for the presidency but I do not want to take this in a whole other directions.
Let's just leave it at 'handles.'

Just an aside, my wife, a retired personal injury and medical malpractice attorney NEVER, I say, NEVER, discussed sensitive material regarding cases with her clients by phone. It was always,'Come into the office, we'll discuss it there.'

I'm in the current projected path for hurricane force winds from Ike. I have my bags packed with a few things that are irreplaceable that I'll evac with if needed. If course my EJ strat and old trusty Strat Plus from the early 90s (although technically replaceable) are the first to be loaded. If I have room I'll throw in my Epiphone Sheraton and my Marshal DSL 401. I gotta keep my priorities straight. ;) But I sincerely hope we don't have to board up and leave. My prayers are with everyone in the Coastal Bend and north of here. It looks like a pretty dramatic weekend is lining up.
