Let's hope that's all you get, and that Zod is not obliged to kneel before Mother Nature.

Hurricanes seem to avoid Tampa. [knocks on wood]
Hopefully Ike just continues to move west and spares all of us.

My community down in Boca Raton just finished putting the finishing touches on the rebuild after the big storms of 2-3 years ago. The next ten years are going to have uneasy 4th quarters, and NYC is just about due for an instant replay of 1938. That, given all the changes aroun here in the past 70 years, will be a disaster of immense proportions.

With all that, all of the upscalers on the North Coast of LI, as well as the "Hamptonians" and the 'Dune Roaders' on ths South, will bristle at the thought that Mother Nature has had the unmitigated gall to upset their comfortable little worlds and will likely move to seek legislation to prevent its recurrence.

Meanwhile, the rain has arrived, in force.

Doc :(

Been raining al day in MD. but it looks like is moving on. The winds are going like 20mph with gust of 30,35 right now but not raining just very dark sky so may see more rain . Had tornado watch out for a while but did not hear of any. :!: The Bay bridge has wind restrictions on right now with sustained winds 45 to 50 so the Eastern shore is still getting it some.

I'm Alive, after 1 week with no power or internet I've finally got it back . I know some wondered about me and some did not , but I am alive, well and back on line. A whole lot of people in this part of the Gulf Coast did not do as well and are still hurting, no elect. no water no food and damaged houses. May god bless them. I hear that another one called Ike is headed this direction. I pray for anyone in its way.

Glad to be back I missed all of ya'll

Peace and Love

Ditto...good to know you are A&W....(alive and well). Would be preferable for all if these storms spent themselves over water. They've been doing their thing like this for millenia now and we've just recently opted to get in their way.

Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, mountain lions and bears.

Seems to be that if were are going to live with the swords we ought to be thinking about appropriate shielding and planning to use it effectively.

But no! Not so for modern arrogance.

Doc

Down here in South Florida, we're all watching Ike. A few days ago NOAA had it tracking into my front yard, but with each successive advisory they have it tracking farther south. Two days ago it was headed directly for Key West. Now the forecast has it moving along the southern coast of Cuba.

It's still 3 days away. Hoping to dodge another bullet.

Damn, just checked the storm track for Ike and it's heading for Louisiana. I wonder how many of these they can handle in a short time?

I know you're sympathies are with them, but I also know where you live, having family within missle range of you. Winter's coming, and some of those 90-100 mph winter storms are nothing to sneeze at.

More over....I was in Seattle the week after your momentus 6 inch snowfall. Tall about being prepared! You guys fell on your keisters. In NYC We eat those for breakfast and make it to work on time, and you know that personally. I can imagine what was going on high in the hills north of Seattle Center or coming east from the ferry terminal towards I-5. I've been up those hills on a good day. Zounds...imagine San Francisco in a blizzard.

How pitifully small we are in the face of all of this. As scripture asks: "What is man that Thou art mindful of him?"
