No, the mythology suggests that a great boat takes one to the Grey Havens where eternal stadium concerts are given.

Yeah, Tommy Shaw and James (JY) Young will be playing guitar on that boat across the river ...

as water and limited to what you can do with it.

Interesting observation. I too prefer Stratocasters, My '58 was my first serious guitar. However, I own an LP Class5 Quilttop. Set an amp up and swap guitars in and out of the same channel and the only Strats to stand up to the LP's power are my Claptons at full midboost. This is why the Clapton guitar was created. Eric wanted the best of both. I will not argue that there is more versatility with the Stratocaster in terms of tonal colorations but people choose the LP for specific duties and it is not unusual for an artist to choose a specifice instrument for a particular application. Reviews of recording sessions in guitar magazines support this.
Yet, if I were told that I could take only one guitar with me on 'the never ending journey', it would be my '89 Clapton.

Doc
I agree with you there Doc most Strats are not going to match the Lp's power for sure and they do have there place with different styles of music. I would not be happy if I was limited to one guitar because the different tones I get from the Lp I can't get from my Strat or Tele and vis versa. I have not met a professional musician who plays only one type of guitar for everything.

Even Jimmie Page used Strats at the end of Zeppelin.

And he used a Tele at the beginning of Zep.

Clapton went the other way started with Gibson ended up with a Fender!

Remember....One of Eric's heroes was Freddy King, hence the LP. But you will see early Yardbirds video of Eric with a Telecaster.

correct me if i'm wrong but according to the clapton biography clapton just played his es-335 in the yardbirds and then w/ cream he owned a long line of gibsons. then he had a tele w/ a strat neck for blind faith. then came brownie, then blackie, right?
