I have just survived my first two days of eighth grade. I am in a few 'advanced classes', although i'd really call one of them advanced. I can only find time to play my strat :)

I know you guys missed me soooooooooooo much :) :P
I don't know if music has to do with it... but johns hopkins university sent me high honors (of the state!) for excellence in mathematics and verbal blah blah blah. I took the ACT for the talented program the day before i got my new git. (my squier bullet.) I am pretty happy, and next year is high school... so i am pretty excited. I (as many of you student musicians) won't be hangin around here too much. I will be here on weekends and weeknights occasionally, when i am not bombarded with biology homeowrk (which i will be). Sing on brother... play on drummer... keep rockin'

The Bullet? Hah! I bought one for 30 bucks. It's not worth paying well-earned money to get better pickups. Sure, it's good for at-home practice, but the moment it touches a good amount of distortion; it's craps out. Keep it for the blues. Slap on it might be a little different... Somebody let me know how well that works.

I survived my first week of senior year, taking all AP and college levels courses. Yay for me.

Yup, sophomore, but I still feel like a freshman. It just doesn't make sense... On a side note, I too take an honors class (Honors English 10).

I think it was around when I was in the 8th grade that Beatlemania evolved and I was hooked on music from that moment on. 8)

All those classes DO come in handy....just keep your head on straight, get good grades, but also do what you love....my son did that, and he just started his first week of classes at The University of Massachusetts's Sound Recording Technology program...he wants to be an audio engineer, and he will succeed because he is focused; he also is an incredible guitar player; that also is required at UMass's SRT program...he has lessons, recitals, etc.

BUT... i play it through i good sounding amp. SUre it's not that good, but that's EXACTLY what i use it for. Home Practice. I really don't use too much distortion, and ya know, when i bought it from the store, i felt like someone actually did a good job setting it up. It might not sound like a fender (i don't even know what the heck the pickups are made of), but it sure plays very well. I use it for the blues, and it can get some good sounds, and i use a touch of overdrive.

I now have a weekend, with some homework. No complaints from teachers yet... :D

Beatles????? Neither they or Eric Clapton had picked up a guitar before I had first seen the inside of a recording studio.
Try Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash for early rock influences.

But I was picking tunes out on a piano with one finger at the age of four.
