For me that would depend on the guitar and my situation. If there was a shop anywhere near me that carried an AVS 57RI P or a CS59 P I might consider trading my P's in on one. (though as good as my MIM's play and sound either bass would have to be pretty out of this world to make me do that.). I'm lucky as my favorite Fender's come from Ensenada so price isn't really an issue. As a rule though, I try to pay for what plays and not let price limit what I purchase whenever possible. Lord knows my rig cost enough, but it's exactly what I wanted. If I picked up a CS 59' and it played like 2300 bucks worth of instrument then I might consider it.

I selected 1500+, but if it were an option I'd probably select no defined limit. Personally I don't have the budget to afford anything tooooo expensive, but I've seen a lot of custom shop models that are priced above $2000 and well justified for what you get. The most I've spent is $1400, and this was a guitar that's already ten years old. I have no regrets and I'd do it over again if given the opportunity.

My most inexpensive guitar cost me $300.00 (1986 MIJ Fender '72RI Strat) and my most expensive cost me $2500.00 (2006 Gibson CS-336).

I typically try to stay within the 1K to 1.5K range, lord knows I wish I would go higher, but all said you can get a mighty decent axe for that price.

I've got my eye on one right now that is a bit over, but it's what I am looking for at the moment. It will make me happy and I try not to turn over or flip my gear, so what I get stays with me a long time. I made my mistakes of letting gear go when I was a teenager and regret it today.

I just spent 700 on my 60s Reissue Strat. I hope my next one will be a John Mayer Strat.

Was that axe new or used? If it was new, you got a great deal at 50% off.

I'd spend more cash if the craftmanship is excellent, the guitar feels so comfortable when playing, and how long I am going to keep it.

Same situation here. I'm unemployed and I NEED to get a lefty Mascis Jazzmaster.

And I don't even know if Fender produces it.
