Hi everybody! This is the poor soul who has Fender guitars around him each and every day, from 5 A.M. until ?? (just joking)
This is the Fender alumni, Cal
How is everyone doing? I got an idea, lets do it again! Anyone interested?
I really enjoyed hanging out with all of you. You all renewed my pride of working here at Fender. I sure hope we can get together again sometime. You were a very cool and classy bunch.

Hey Cal, We are all over a reunion gig... Can't Wait!! Paul ...check out page 51 in the frontline catolog... I sneaked a peak at Joy's Christmas list. She got me a Special Edition Spalted Maple Tele w/ rosewood fretboard. She freaked when she caught me peaking, oops. She wanted to know WHICH ONE I saw, so christmas is going to be very good for me. 8)
Cal, can you tell the fender folks to throw a couple extra toys in my order? Ha Ha.

Incredible!
It hasn't even been a month and we are all talking reunion already. I mentioned earlier all of us getting together at Paul's restaurant in AZ and that was met with general enthusiasm. What say around April, May next year??
Cal, great to hear from you. You were one of my main driving forces when I was there and my inspiration to practice, practice, practice. I bought a couple DVD's that were recommended to me. I want to be good so bad!
Cal maybe Fender could get us a group rate at a cool hotel around the offices there, and maybe a visit. HMMMMMM?
Hope all in the southern states are well and I wish you all the best in the next few days. Looks like Ike didn't just whoop on Tina.
Also, I emailed Fender about possibly having all of our Robert Knight pohtos put on a "Yearbook" page on their site under the graduating 2008 class. Haven't heard back yet.
Peace and Love to all,
Mike

Hey guys, I thought I'd drop by the forum to see what's been going on since class was dismissed. I've been spending a lot of time jamming away with my new Strat - I think my Les Pauls are starting to gather dust.... Other than that, I've been enjoying the last few days of summer up here in Calgary. I've had plenty of time now to relay all of the great times at Fender U to my co-workers and friends. Even though most of them don't play guitar, they could certainly appreciate how much fun of a time was had.

Paul, nice choice on that Gilmore. Just caught him on the tube at the Isle of Wight 2008 concert special. Never been a P.F. fan, but he was great.
Shane, great to hear from you also.
I have to say that I have been quite a few great trips, cruises and vacations, but nothing has stuck with me like the FU. Maybe cause I didn't have to plan a thing and just let it flow.
It was like when I was single and took a couple cruises, and on each one I would meet a very nice woman whom I would have a great time with, and when I would get back home, I just couldn't get her off my mind. Fender is that woman, and she's one that I can safely talk about to my wife.
One more thing, has anyone seen this site:
I don't know if Fender has anything to do with it, or if there is actually a Fender University?
Peace and Love

Cal,
That's a very tough question. Every time I thought things couldn't possibly get better when I was there, they did, by leaps and bounds.
As much as I loved everyone I met, all the entertainers, the staff of Fender, the great students, I'd have to say that the memory that stands out as the sweetest was having Mrs. Fender sitting right across the table from me at Sliders and talking to her for all the time we were there. She was so very gracious and entertaining. I don't think she got 3 bites of food in her mouth cause we couldn't stop asking her questions. When I told 2 of our servers who she was, and they fawned over her, she was genuinely thrilled. What a wonderful person.
Love and peace to all,
Mike W.

Cal here, Yep, I saw the Gilmore Strats and they are great playing and sounding! I won't get into details about them now but whoever gets one will definitly not be disapointed!
If any of you get the urge to buy me one, by all means feel free to do so.
Black will do just fine. And please, while you are at it, add a Supersonic head with a couple of 4X12 bottoms and the talent of Jimmy Page or Jeff Beck!

Hi Guys,

Nice to see more of us on line. I'm voting for a late March or early April AZ reunion. I have a trip already planned for late April and would be crushed if there were a reunion and I couldn't attend.

I ordered a few things through Fender including a Gilmore Strat. I'm really looking forward to getting that puppy in my hands. The only thing I've received so far is a Frank Bello Squire Strat that Im going to give to my 8 year old grandson..........waiting, waiting, waiting for the rest. Since the Gilmore is released on Monday, it'll be interesting to see how long it takes for them to get shipped out. Will we get lower serial numbers because of our cool FU alumni status?

This past Friday (9/12/08) Willy Porter played here in Portland with Raining Jane as the lead-in act. It's about an 800 seat venue and was about 80-90% full. RJ put on a great show with Willy joining them for a song midway. Then after a short break Willy came on and played for about 1 1/2 hours. Raining Jane joined him for the last couple of songs and then for an encore. All in all it was a great show. I took 3 people who knew nothing about Willy or RJ and they were totally stoked, lining up for CDs and autographs after the show. I got a chance to talk to Mai, Mona, Chaska and Becky who claimed to remember me and were very friendly and gracious. Got a chance to touch base with Willy too who said to email and stay in touch. They all mentioned Fender University and were stoked by the experience.

Well, Sunday night I'm going to an acoustic concert by Everclear which should be fun. I'll pass on a report later.

Oh, BTW, do any of you guys name your guitars? What?
I've got Martha (named before I got her), the Tangerine Dream, Blue Boy, and the Green Machine.

Norm
