I feel like the harbinger of doom. I just discovered Mr. Reed's work last weekend and he died on Monday.

For a really good example of his skill, search YouTube for Jerry Reed and Mule Skinner Blues. Wow! It was part of a TV show with Chet Atkins.

Jerry was one hell of a guitar player. I was always impressed with his pickin skills.

Yup...somewhere right now a guitar is getting some well earned rest. A fretboard can finally cool off.

Great picker.

I used to steal my brother Chet's bass and sit around playing to his Amos Moses record when I was a kid. Smokey and the Bandit was one of my favorite movies when I was a teenager.

Thanks for the memories, Jerry. Rest in peace.

I heard a short tribute to Jerry on the radio this morning. They played "Amos Moses" and "When You're Hot You're Hot", two songs I remember from my youth.

You never hear these on the radio anymore.
