no no no ! :D personally what turns me on a great solo! so hot !!!

HA.
Please.

This one time, when I wanted to see how bad Squiers actually were, since a ton of people said how bad the quality was, I got Mom to take me to the music store we have down here. But it turned out to be just a big blow out.
The guy who helped us out in the store sat us down and handed me a Tele--not a Squier, just a really awesome Tele. He got a cord and I plugged into an amp that was there, and instantly, I fell in love with it.
I then tried a Strat, but I knew from when I held it that I liked the Tele better. I played all the same stuff on the Strat as I did on the Tele, and told the dude what the "verdict" was; the Tele was the victor.
"Ah, yes, I would've thought that you'd like the Telecaster better because it suits girls better--and it helps with their small hands and all."
....
I just about lost it.
It took everything I had not to go ape*bleep* on this dude, but I just slapped on a fake smile and laughed politely.
THAT is when I broke out the finger tapping and began to "shred".

Anyway.
Pardon my story/rant.
Needless to say, we walked out of there empty-handed.

And the funny thing is, Telecasters have thicker necks (most of the time) than Strats do so they actually wouldn't be good for small hands. I'm more of a Strat person myself, but my little brother has a Squier Telecaster that I like quite a bit. I just have to wipe the neck and strings off with a wet rag before I play it because his hands are always sticky for some reason. lol

It is funny when people assume that since you're a girl you must play acoustic guitar and pop music. They don't really expect you to play electric guitar and they really don't expect it when you suddenly break into the Freebird solo or Eruption.

The best part of this thread is the bass players getting their PR licks in for being chick magnets.

1. Lead Singer
2. Drummer (breaks down kit and ready to split first)
3. Lead Guitar Player
4. Rythum Guitar Player
5. Bass Player

(insert harmonica player or sax ahead of bass player if there is one (or both) in the band.

Old threads are fun and amusing. Our society is SO freaking-stinking "today-sensitive."

Does it mean anything if one is a guitar player and then generates three daughters?

Do guitarists have more daughters than the general population?

Not for me...one son and one daughter. Had to stop there.

And interestingly enough, though all three girls took music up through middle school and 2 still have guitars, none play much.

"It's too hard....it takes too much time to get anything right...."

Ah, the modern need for instant gratification, combined with the atterntion span of a gerbil on a disco floor...what a killer of potential musicians.

That's funny considering I'm a guy and I call my girl *ahem* strat Amber...

So a guitar faithfully replicates a sexual partner?

True dat. :)

Actually, I have dropped a number of instruments before sticking to an electric, mainly because there wasn't enough inspiration. You can have the talent, the patience, and the best equipment, but how is it going to pay off if you don't have someone to look up to and keep you going. Personally, my idol happens to be deceased (see my handle) but who says you can't help even if you're dead?

On another note pertaining to this topic, I think I might actually be not 'getting any' because I focus on my guitar and future gear and the like. I just can't see my self having the same girl after 10 years, but I can imaging holding my first electric (a Squier). I do like this girl... oh wait that's just an Ibanex Artcore. AGHH!

Does something about that seem strange?

Ahaha, I know!! And last time I checked, this chick's hands were the size of small dinner plates!!!! (No, seriously. They're just over 8 1/2 inches from the wrist to the tip of the middles finger.)
Haha, I'm afraid I have the same issue--clammy hands. I don't think they make the strings sticky, though.... O_o

Tell me about it!!!! :P They all just think that we have no desire to learn any further than playing a few prissy-pansy pop songs (badly :P).
Nothing could be further from the truth for me, and you as well.

To be honest with you, Kash and Texgitslinger, I expected you to be guys by the way you presented yourselves, and partially it's probably coming from my subconscious half-sexist beliefs. BTW, people regard me as being very honest, so that's just me. I guess I didn't experience that many female guitarists where I come from. But I totally dig anyone who digs the blues and DIGS rock (the good kind, not the kind that makes you wonder, 'my God is this the kind they'd put in Sharon Stone's car if they finally found one,' instead of 'this is quite alright. I hope Danny DeVito hears about this.') 8) :)

That's all right, it's easy to assume that everyone on a guitar message board is a guy. I've done that before myself. As far as presentation goes I guess I'm just used to being "one of the guys". In every band I've ever been in that's the way it was. I only had issues with one other guitarist in one of my bands because he liked me and I wished he'd just go away. He was only a year older than my little brother (who's four years younger than me), so I guess immaturity was a problem.

I think (unfortunately) that bass players are the most underpraised members of any band. Like in Led Zeppelin. John Paul Jones plays exactly the same rhythm parts as Jimmy Page in songs like The Lemon Song, Black Dog, the solo to Dazed and Confused, Whole Lotta Love, and Moby Dick. I am not a bassist myself but I think they deserve more credit. Some bands have KILLER bass lines!

I'm going to hope that the guitar is a girl magnet. I need a little help in that department. My biggest problem is OPPORTUNITY. I never get the opportunity to play anywhere.

Most pro bands really appreciate a good bass player, non musicians including media types can't grasp the real importance because of that 'non' part, not their fault just not musically inclined. As for getting lucky, at our first gig in july when we came off of the stage there were 5 hot chicks waiting for me including the next band on the bills' lead singers girlfriend who spent their entire set rubbing against me and appologizing about being there with him, my guitar player and drummer not one groupie, if you have seen any pictures of me you know I'm average at best and I say that hopefully, so, what was it? The bass guitar!
