Yes, almost all of you are fender fans. that's why you are on this forum. But i know that there are people who play other guitars out there, too. For example, Gibson and Fender are total opposites, but people play them both, and like them equally. What do you use Gibson for? Or maybe some other company.

I played a Les Paul one time, it's good but not me. I haven't tried an SG yet, but i really want to, since it's the lighter version of a Les Paul.

Maybe some of you metal heads also play ibanez.

All my guitars are electric, with the exception of an Ovation acoustical, and an Epiphone Acoustical.

The Epiphone was bought by me at 16, from money earned from side jobs. I mainly keep that one around for sentimental reasons.

A friend once handed me his Ovation years ago.......and I really liked it. So I bought one when I eventually had the extra money. It was really my only guitar, until I started buying electrics about 4 years ago. All the electrics are Fenders, because they feel so easy to play.

I play an Epiphone Elisist along with my strat. It's a bit better for some harder stuff that I'll play. I like to have it because it complements the strat perfectly. With both and my amp/effects, I can get pretty close to any tone that I want.

I'm a huge fan of vintage Guild acoustics and hollowbody electrics.

I have a Gibson LP Standard and a Gibson CS-336, along with my 2 Strats. I like them all or I wouldn't have them. It all depends on my mood as to which guitar I play.

I own and play mostly Fenders, but I have a couple of Les Pauls and an Epi Dot to approximate the ES-335 sound. I got them for blusier and jazzier stuff I play, but I find I can get close to the humbucker tone with my Deluxe Powerhouse with the 12dB boost.

One guitar that intrigues me is the Ovation VXT Hybrid. Should I ever desire to "thin the herd", I would probably replace guitars with others that do many things like the Strat VG.

I like my SG for distortion, my Strats & Teles for clean and overdrive, and my Seagull accoustic for finger style playing.

I am going acoustic here, but I have a Martin that I am quite fond of.

+1 to that: I am at the point where I have streamlined down to the main electrics that I can not live without (a '76 SG and my Strat). Besides sounding and playing differently, my playing style also varies alot depending on which one I play. Therefore, mood is the biggest factor on which one I grab.

I like them both. I got 3 lp types. two of them Epiphone standards and various strats and strat type guitars. Lately I have been thinking of getting some kind of SG style guitar but I have to find one at the right price.
I play mostly with the strats but I like to jump back and forth and enjoy each for its merits.

More of a mood thing, here. 'Have kind of settled into Fender, Gibson and Line 6 instruments over the decades.

For example, a Tele is fun for 'informal,' a Jazzmaster or 335 for more of a 'proper' mood. The cheap Washburn Rover on the deck with a beer.

And different music. A Strat, SG or Variax is great for feeling indecisive, as they can play just about anything. Often change guitars in the middle of a long sofa-set, as desire / mood to play jazz, folk rock, surf, classical-on-electric, show tunes, pop, world, lite blues...changes. Three different guitars in a two-hour sofa-set is not unusual, here.

As far as scale length, neck shape, pickup type, string gauge...'don't even pay attention. Does it soound like what the head wanted to play at the time?

I have a Simon and Patrick acoustic that I've always thought is a great deal. It has solid wood and cost about as much as most name brand models made out of plywood. Since I got my strat I haven't played it all that much, but this weekend I broke it out and was a little suprised by how I felt.

I still like the way my right hand (picking hand) sits on the guitar better than how it does on the strat, but for everything else (neck feel, intonation, string action...) I now prefer the strat.

It was kind of a good "wake up call" to what a good quality instrument the strat is.

I have a 335 that I use once in awhile. It's light because of the semi-hollowed out body and sounds good, but I prefer solid body guitars and have never really bonded with it for regular use.

I also have a headless Steinberger USA GLB-2S that's fun to play at times, but hate the bridge and Steinberger Double-Ball System. I have a potential buyer interested in this right now.

I find when I play a Fender (25.5" scale, 9.5" radius) for a while and then switch to a Gibson (24.75" scale, 12" radius), it takes me a short while to adjust. My fingers don't end up in the right places and I hit some clunker notes . . . I mean more than usual.

Anyone else? Or is it just me?
