Nope...CNY the Valley area is either crap new metal, or country (which I have no problem with). Blues or Blues based hard rock is dead here. It's really sad. Most of the action is gotten by the same sad cover bands that have been playing the circuit for 20 years. It's depressing.

There is quite a bit of talent around here in Santa Fe, NM. A few small clubs around here that usually have some great musicians.

Blues is alive and well in Western, MA and certain Seacoast areas of NH and Maine.

The Saratoga Racetrack annual event (upstate NY area) is booking everything from solo performers to 9-piece showbands.

The suburbs are mostly indie singer-songwriters.

Generally speaking, Cape Cod is rocking too !

There are several Blues Societies and Blues Clubs within a hundred miles or so of here.

Chris
When I was in the DC area in the mid 70's there used to be dozens of places along the Beltway. It was cool to follow an band around.

Seattle just rocks. It's a great city to be a rocker no matter what your genre is.

It's pretty lame down here in the south Georgia area. Nothing but little metal head punks running around thinking their hot $@!&. I live in a crappy town and there's nothing happened here music wise. It's a college town, so all the bars are concentrating on one thing and one thing only, and that's selling booze, they don't care if they have bands play or not.

If I see one more person playing some speed metal crap it'll be too soon.

Seattle would be a great place for music... you've got pretty much the birthplace of grunge, and theres all kinds of other rock

I live 20 minutes outside of Charlotte, NC... not far from Verizon Wireless Ampitheater, so we always have muscial shows going on. John Mayer just performed there recently. Also, the city itself has some Jazz Clubs and other great bars where the local music scene is available.

South Dakota is pretty weak as far as the music scene is. The farming scene is pretty good I imagine. We have a lot of metal shows out here. We do have some underground hip-hop shows as well. And every year there is a jazz festival, which includes blues. There is much to be desired. I'm going to start a band.

There are "new" bands around here, but not really any real rock or blues bands.
