Love 'em to this day--and I also loved their MGM stablemates Droopy Dog and Barney Bear!

Unfortunately, from the late 50s onward, they sucked! Animation, storylines and characterization all went to crap (although Hanna/Barbara did the originals from the 40s, when they gained enough power to go out on their own and just rely on MGM for distribution, they went CHEAP and cruddy from that point forward...)

The originals could not be made today--too violent, vaguely racist and no merchandising tie-ins!

I watched 'em when all there was on Cartoon Network was that and Looney toons. But like most people, I grew out of Cartoons.

Tom and Jerry are good but Looney Toons are the best. I especially loved What's Opera Doc. That has to be the greatest cartoon of all time in my opinion.

Cheers - C

I think the classics of many things are better...classic coke in a glass bottle, classic cars, and these fine cartoons. Sometimes there is nothing more fun than watching an old cartoon-it takes you out of the daily ratrace for a moment. 8)

they were watchable but the simpsons version really rips the whole tom and jerry cartoon genre , slightly disturbing , don't show the kids.

tom and jerry always one of the best from way back, and yeah i'm old enough to remember. in those days down here in nz there was only black and white tv to watch those shows on, also remember enjoying top cat and the flintstones, wood woodpecker show yeah! love the artwork they did back then. IMHO animation aint what it used to be, and that anime $@!& is the pits. just look at a current spiderman comic, the anime influence in how the characters are drawn makes em just look stupid...

Sorry for this incredibly random thread, but i watched it recently, and i wonder who out there likes those oldies. Oldies, but goodies! It's really funny, cause they don't talk much to tell you the plot! just some good ol' cartoon violence. I could watch the same episodes, it never gets old!

Speaking of cartoon character not saying much!
