Here's a CD from another dynamic duo . . .
The Duke Meets the Earl -- Duke Robillard and Ronnie Earl

This is much better than anything I've heard from either on their own--the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.

Adrian Smith / Dave Murray from Iron Maiden. I can't believe that they are first being brought up on page 3.

I know this isn't a duo, but it's some of the most amazing guitar playing you'll ever hear.

John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola, Paco De Lucia.

I think the three of them released 2 albums together. Stupid ridiculous talent.

try again, this is from page 2, he didn't mentioned the name, but specifically the band:

Iron Maiden had good pairings (now a trio) too.

Lots of good ones, from GNR to Thin Lizzy, but as for duos I gotta vote Keith and Ron

I am totally surprised that it's not Keith and Mick Taylor but Keith and Ron. I guess Keith will make anyone sound better.Image

I've heard many people talk about the Mick/Keith lineup as preferrable, but the the longevity of Ron/Keith's pairing alone makes them superior to me. Ron seems to have the same chaotic style as Keith and somehow between the two of them it sounds great.

No worries either way, Stones rock.

"Best" is very opinionated, and some good ones have already been mentioned.

I'll say Will Ray, John Jorgenson and Jerry Donahue (aka The Hellecasters), and yeah, I know it's three, so pick any two.

This one was tough, but I have to go with probably one of the first, the harmonies, the inventiveness, and originality.

Both are VERY underrated, especially George. But both created magic.

George Harrison and John Lennon

I can't agree enough that George Harrison is one of the most underrated musicians in the world. You really have to listen to his solo stuff to realize his full potential. A great slide player to boot.

I would agree with you except I would say especially John. In the Beatles' latter years, John did lots of the lead guitar work.
Also, don't forget this guy below ... he also played a lot of lead and rhythm work on the Beatle albums (Anyone remember Abbey Road??)
