Reminds me of when I was playing drums in a band. I was always in an argument with the singer. He once caught me behind drums, when I couldn't move, gave me a push, and over I went, backwards, in the middle of my drum set. I later learned he became a heroin addict.

Well lemme see. Over the years there have been more than a few. Here a couple that stick in my mind as being the most annoying.

There was the drummer who COULDN'T KEEP TIME (he consistently sped up until everything was a speed metal song.) Which is fine if you are a speed metal outfit, we weren't. It took a couple of months and lots of work but we got him calmed down and it was okay.

The bass player whom I think really wanted to play in a jazz band. Highly skilled but what he chose to play didn't fit the classic metal we were playing. As good things go . . . he went

My dual lead guitar partner who continually jumped into and all over my solo time. I ended up kicking him in the balls on stage. GLORIOUS!

No real singer issues except that lots of them can't really sing so they come and go alot

last band had a bass player who hated everyone in the world and started fights whenever he drank more than six pints.
The drummer (who was probably the best drummer ive ever heard bar none) gave himself pleurisy from smoking damp weed right before a gig with a few a&r men present.
The singer couldnt stop chatting up every female in the audience.
The other guitarist (a chronic alcoholic) has a list of misdemeanours long enough to shame Al capone.
1, never turned up for practice for seven months.
2, fused the electrics at various gigs, because of his garbage amp.
3, Got detained (and missed the flight and next gig) by italian customs officers. A dog relieved itself over his disgarded jacket, right before we set off for the airport (noone told him). The customs officers suspected him to be a illegal immigrant that had swam ashore.
4, Refused to pay for a hotel room prior to playing the wasted festival in blackpool uk. He camped out in a field, awoke by a police officer arresting him for trespass, in the middle of a marketplace.
5, Drove the band along with all his drunk mates around the country whilst being 'on the run from the law'.
6, stripped naked onstage then offered his underwear up for sale.
Here he is, if you see him coming RUN you cant help but love him despite the trouble he causesImage

Aside from all the problems it was a great band.

Thankfully, never had a singer problem like a lot of people here. The lead singer was one of the three of us the formed the band and he had "just enough" ego to have the necessary stage presence. The drummer was the other founding member, with me on lead/VERY background vocals.

We got lucky on rhythm/backup singer too -- nice guy and he was with us 4 years. The only thing he refused to do was play sax (we knew he could and was fairly good at it), but no big deal. But bass player -- nightmare!!

We went through 10 or 11, with the usual reasons being some combo of drugs, alcohol and/or lazy. For most of our first year, I'd play lead on songs that just had to have lead but then switch to bass on everything else. We finally did find a guy who, oddly enough, had never played rock, blues or any of that in his life. He was tall, so they stuck a double bass in his hands in 7th grade orchestra and he'd played from then until he (had to) drop out of high school in the middle of his junior year.

He'd never even considered playing in a band, had no gear and couldn't get any if he'd wanted to (supporting a disabled mom and his GF, who was still in high school). But he came down, auditioned and was a natural. So with that, I just handed him my gear and told him he had the job. He was with us until we broke up 3 years later.

Meanwhile, ironically, I'd gotten the bass bug so I played in a number of side projects -- usually jazz trios -- almost always on bass.

how about this: a bass player who changed from "man" to "woman" !!!

I should add that that doesn't make her bad.

It's just different and real common among bandmates, eh?

2. Not Named (i think were gonna call ourselves Beer Money) its just me and my best freind (he plays bass and sings) hes kinda horrible he wants every song to be a Nirvana cover (i love Nirvana but i cant take covering nothing but 1 band) although were waiting til we atleast have a drummer to even think about gigging

This guy represents everything that's wrong with guitar music!
Every naff rock stereotype going!
Guys like this give us all a bad name!
At least he's not playing a fender! (the gentlemans choice, I'd like to think!)

Let's hope he's had a bath, haircut, put a shirt on, thrown that hat away, burned the jacket, and run himself round the block a few times since this picture was taken.

I think everyone has at some point, because being in a band is like being in a relationship. Seldomly will you meet someone and have an instant, lifelong connection. Usually you need to just search and find people who don't annoy as much as other people do, and then just go with that...

I found out the drummer of my last band was bad mouthing me to the other bandmates. Long story short the band ended up breaking up about two months ago. I talked to him for the first time about 2 weeks ago. He called me up and said he wanted to take me out to eat for my birthday. After the meal he pushes the check in my direction, gets up, and walks out.

Concerning this post, if you never had, then either you're full of you know what, or you've never been in a band!

Amen! The band I played in a few years ago had a very tight group but when our bass player split (he got his head stuck up some girl's a**) we went through 3 more in six months. And get a load of this: one of them wore a full glove on his left hand because "the strings hurt his fingers". I was totally opposed to him but a couple of the other guys told him he was in - DISASTER!

In the past few months I have set out to start a band and found it still hard to find a dependable bass player. There is no shortage of guitarists or drummers where I live but the few good bass players in the area all have gigs right now, but a few weeks ago I finally found one who seems dependable.

This is why I don't blame artists that break up and don't want to get back together.

It's so hard to find a good set of band mates. Egos and attitudes come aplenty.

My Band Right now Kicks Buns!! We all have a pretty level head.

However, We had a Bass Palyer that thought he knew the formula for a sucsessful band. He told the drummer how to set up his drums, he told the singer how to count, and he told me and the other guitar palyer what amps to use, what strings to use, and even what picks to use. After a Month, he had 3 songs down. He was the definition of a DRAG. When I told him, "You'll have to accept us as the players we are, and start concentrating on your Bass parts so we can get to rehearsing." he nearly cried. I mean it. He came back the next day and left the band without a word to anyone.
