Sounds like this could be very interesting! This by no means states that they'll be coming out with a new album, but with them entering the studio, there's always the possibility.

Hopefully if they do make a record, they stick to their roots and don't try to overdo anything.

Discuss.

I thought I saw him a bit at the closing ceremonies. It does say they're just calling each other up on and off, so it's not like full time studio sessions.

mmmmmmm........maybe I can get them to pose with me and my Fender Lounge T-shirt, and I can with the contest for that custom shop guitar......

(I'll have to get my people to get in contact with their people......)

All they gotta do to come up with some new tunes is to "steal" (okay, borrow) some old blues licks and add some new lyrics (I believe they know not to borrow lyrics anymore).

As we never stop hearing, where I live, the next Olympics are in London. And after that Chinese opening ceremony there has been a lot of angst about how we can't possibly follow it: they spent $40 billion; we are spending $20 billion - and of course money buys a LOT more man hours at Far East rates of pay. What to do - how to measure up?

Yet to my eyes that Chinese opening bonanza was all about the subjugation of the individual: tens of thousands of people all doing exactly the same thing at the same instant. Lost in the masses, was the theme.

So happens, I recently saw Eric Clapton live, and to my ears he was on TOP form; just fabulous. And so I thought: that’s the answer. The 2012 London opening ceremony is simply a huge Clapton concert, symbolising Western culture and the ultimate triumph of the individual. Yes!

Then I saw Jimmy Page at the closing ceremony and I thought; someone’s been reading my mind, more or less. Spooky…

Cheers - C

I was tempted to write just that when making this thread, but I refrained

And then again........Ozzy Osborne could be be the master of cerimonies at the opening.........

Hopefully........the Brits won't put a bunch of 13 year olds on the team....(I don't think they will)

If you knew some of the personalities involved you would do well not to lay bets - anything is possible. The state of desperation right now is such that we may be counting on those 13 year olds!

G'night - C

Probably why I haven't watched the Olympics for years. It's all about politics.......winning at any cost.......and the whole sports competion has died long ago.

That fake performance by Page was really bad. At one point he wasn't even strumming his guitar when the audio track kicked off. I understand how hard it would be to play live in that huge place, but I think it was pretty tacky.

Robert Plant is still out on tour with Allison Krauss.

I had heard that there would be some things going on after he got done with that tour.

I don't care. I'd rather find some new artists that are good. Any new work by Led Zeppelin is probably like any new work by Paul McCartney: not very good, but it'll make a few yacht payments.

That's what I was thinking, too. By the way, that's an unlikely, but very good combo.

+1 -- I am huge Zep fan, but those magical days are long gone. Jimmy can't play anywhere near like he did in the '70s. This is not breaking news, either -- for Page, that level of guitarmanship was actually gone by the mid-80s. And Plant can't hit those notes anymore. And ... lets not forget that John Bonham is also "long time gone".

That being said, I am not slamming them as wash-ups. I thought the Firm was great, and I love Plant's first three solo albums (any Robbie Blunt fans out there??). So, it's cool if they want to work together again, but ... regardless of what they call themselves ... it is NOT at all Led Zeppelin.
