I saw this add on craigslist:
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/msg/817227288.html

Quote:
My bf took his baby (Fender Strat) into a pawnshop and lost it! I would like to find one exactly like it and surprise him. I do not, however, know much about guitars. I know that it was a Fender, Sunburst coloring, I think a Strat and I remember him talking about it being one exactly like one from the past, like a reproduction. But it was a new guitar. It had a handle thingy on it that I think does reverb or something. Also, he bought it less than 2 years ago.

So, what else....oh yeah it was in a brown hard case with gold fuzzy inside.

Does anyone know what I am talking about?

I realize that this could be one of about fifty different guitars, but I'm sure the gal would be happy if someone had a good idea of what would match this description.

Also, sorry if this is your girlfriend and I ruined your suprise! :D

That "handle thingy" is a tremolo, or wammy bar. (it doesn't do reverb)
Try to get more information if possible.
Are there any photos of the original guitar?
Did it have gold hardware? any other descriptions would be helpful.

Craigslist scares me. Lots of fraud going on in there.......

Very good chance this ad is a scam, or a hoax or a joke.

But if it's legit--send her to a music store that sells Fender.

I love my local Craigslist. That's where I got my P-Bass, plus a bunch of other good deals.

Sounds like a reissue, 60's type maybe?
