That sounds like a great invention. If those were moderately priced, I would easily buy one to make people angry.

I once had a website for it. They were about $100. Small, can hide them in your pocket......and when you hit the button, that "life changing" phone call, right next to you, is disconnected.

Unfortunately, according to this Google site, it's illegal to jam signals, but not necessarily to block them.

I am thinking of getting a cellphone-only because I don't use my landline much, and I could probably cut the current cost in half. The 'pay as you go' type of cell phone would suit me just fine. But I definitely wouldn't be tempted to use it while driving, besides I have a manual transmission!

I don't like 'wassup' phone calls. I'm not so needy for attention that I have to remind people that I exist every 5 minutes (If someone was that intrusive on my life, they would definitely get more attention from me than they ever bargained for). And I'd much rather be listening to the radio in my car rather than talking to anybody on the phone. When my neighbors go anywhere, the first thing they do even before they get to their car is to get on the cellphone. I've had my share of close calls on the road with cellphone talking, vehicle driving morons. The last thing I want to do is become a victim of that.

I probably sound grumpy. I am. To quote Ogden Nash about middle age (which I am): "Middle age is when the telephone rings on a Saturday night and you hope it's not for you".

I have a personal cellphone and I use my land line for my internet coonection. I should probably get cable internet, kill the land line and save a few bucks. I started a new job this year and they presented me with The Dreaded BlackBerry. I skillfully avoided these until now. I have them both on silent mode when I'm driving.

Just an observation -- I've noticed many of the posts on this thread come from Florida. Interesting.

Unfortunately my occupation causes me to see the damage, the injuries and lost lives which result from cell phone usage while driving. Due to this I try my best to stop the vehicle in a parking lot when I am on the phone.

I do not use my cell phone to much but the head unit in my truck connects using bluetooth so I can answer the phone by hitting the button on the head unit and talk hands free. The music even turns off automatic when using the phone or in coming call and gives the call info on the screen. And my one car has the bluetooth that the cell phone company puts in for the same type of use.

I don't have a landline phone, just a cell. For $40 a month I can make whatever calls I need to, without worrying about long-distance charges, and I have it for emergency use when I'm driving. I've had to make 911 calls several times, and it's a good thing to have a cell phone handy when you see a school bus get broadsided! I'm with a lot of you guys, mystified over what it is that people are texting constantly. Don't see any use for it at all. Anyone else just want a phone to make and receive calls, and doesn't want to download music, check mail, go online, text, take pictures, etc. on their "phone"???
