Tube amp + TS808=SRV

Agreed. Maxon makes one of the best "Tubescreamer" pedals out there. They originally made them for Ibanez back in the day.
Homebrew Electronics makes a Tubescreamer type pedal called the Powerscreamer w/ Fatboost. It eats TS808's for breakfast.

Just don't be surprised when you get the gear and still sound like you. You could plug into Stevie's rig and you'd still sound like you.

+1

Who makes the TS808? Or should I try the homebrew electronics one? Thanks!

Ibanez makes the 808. Both run just over $150. Hit the guitar center and try em out.

The Maxon version sounds better to me than the Ibanez, but that's just my taste. Cryingstrat is right, all of these pedals we've mentioned cost about $150.00. Try them out to see what sounds best to you.

Here the link to the Maxon OD808...

Maxon has made great stuff for decades. Can't go wrong there.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate all of your help on this. I can't wait to get my new amp on Tuesday and hear it. I have to run up to the local GC and see if they have a TS808 or a maxon. I can't wait!

I could only wish I had a chance of sounding like him. I'm ok with sounding like me, I just want to emulate his tone as close as I can. I just love the warmth and expessiveness of his tone. It raised the hair on the back of my neck, but I realize that is his soul coming through. I will be proud if I can ever get that oneness with the guitar he had nonstop. He was amazing.

How is the sound of the Blues Jr better? I have a tele and am getting a stray soon, and want to be able to have good clean sounds ad well as the nice bluesy, SRV sound. I have only heard a little of the blues Jr. Thanks for the help!

Good luck. SRV's sound and gear changed over the years. But I would guess that starting with a good tube amp might be a good idea. On Youtube, I saw an interview from Japan where SRV played a Flying V and it sounded just like him. For me I gave up trying to imitate his sound. I suppose he wasn't trying to imitate Hendrix himself. I own a Blues Junior and for a clean sound like Lenny or Riviere Paradise, you won't be deceived. As for a bluesy Texas flood, no deception either. Again, good luck with your search.

Cheers.

Blues Jr NOS & pedals is the best bet in my opinion.
I have played the vox amps & I don't like the tone.
I hear alot of high end in the vox amps.
...just my opinion

Guitar center has the Maxon for $134. I can't test it in store because they don't stock them, but I am ordering one. I trust all of you and your advice. Thanks again!
