I want a versatile amp, and I like the SRV sound sometimes, but I want clean sounds also. I have heard both and realise that I would need pedals to get the SRV sound with either one. The Fender is more money, which is ok, but can I get the same sound out of the VOX? Guitar center will give me 30 days to try either one, but which is better/more versatlie? Thanks!

I would definately recommend the Blues Junior over the Vox. I had one of the Valvetronix amps and it seems (to me anyway) way more like a toy than an actual musical instrument.

How is the sound of the Blues Jr better? I have a tele and am getting a stray soon, and want to be able to have good clean sounds ad well as the nice bluesy, SRV sound. I have only heard a little of the blues Jr. Thanks for the help!

keep in mind that the blues junior is all tube. I would probably go with the blues junior, because it probably has a richer sound( again, all tube).

I played through fender amps, they sound nice.

Blues Jr over the Vox any day of the week. Vox amps sound thin and trebly to me.

My Blues Junior has a great tone. The SRV tone happens pretty well with the Cs Tx Spc pickups, plugging directly into the amp, with the switch in neck or neck-mid and the gain up past 11. For great-sounding cleans, just back up the gain to 4 or so, and up the reverb to 4 or so (from zero) and you've got haunting cleans. The bridge gives a real vintage tone and then bridge-mid has great quack. I would recommend the Blues Junior to anyone.

The only Vox amp I've ever liked is the AC30. The Valvetronix are pretty lame compared to the CyberTwin.

Great choice! My friend has a Vox amp, and it's decent for getting some types of tones, but for what you want, the Blues Jr. is definitely the way to go.

So will that pedal give me a good SRV sound or should I look for a set of pedals to set up in series that will give me a batter sound? Thanks!

Agreed. Maxon makes one of the best "Tubescreamer" pedals out there. They originally made them for Ibanez back in the day.
Homebrew Electronics makes a Tubescreamer type pedal called the Powerscreamer w/ Fatboost. It eats TS808's for breakfast and is way more versatile.

Just don't be surprised when you get the gear and still sound like you. You could plug into Stevie's rig and you'd still sound like you.
