It would have been "Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart" by Vera Lynn. However (I was born 9/11/52), "You Belong to Me" by Jo Stafford replaced it at #1 just two days later, on 9/13.

Out of these, the only I've ever played were Jambalaya, Night Train and Lawdy Miss Clawdy. (I'm not about to admit that I played Glow Worm on violin in junior high.)
