'Was not really aware of him back then. Return to U and grad scool was eating everything non work / family.

Since...one wonders where he would be if not for that ride. Musically matured beyond blues, or have become one of the immortals of the genre by now?

I got to see him "live" but only once. He was doing a show with Albert King and was pretty unknown at the time. He was really something special. Not many guitarists have the ferocious intensity and chops that he was always able to bring to whatever he played.

My wife and I wondered if Eric Clapton would make his concert in Kansas City... It was scheduled only days after Stevies death.
Eric did make the show, We all had tears in our eyes as Clapton played and paid tribute to his friend. Folks, I dont think we have ever heard a finer show.

RIP SRV

Where you aware that the seat that Stevie was in on that helicopter was supposed to be Eric Clapton's? Stevie was in hurry to leave and asked Eric if he could have his seat.

Yeah... Kind of creepy huh..

I can't hardly say much for this thread, other than the fact that I hate that I missed him. But I have noticed that my playing is starting to get a lot more like his. I'm sure that Stevie will be missed forever and I hope to carry on what he gave us. RIP SRV.
