Mod's, feel free to dump this post if it is not appropriate, I am not trying to Moderate or Control here. Just trying to help improve the site.

Would it be possible to post a General Sticky for all members to use the search tool or read thru the existing topics in order to reduce duplicate posts on the same thing.

I understand it won't work all the time but with the increase in traffic, we are seeing alot of redundant questions which the poster can benefit from the answers already covered in other threads.

I think that's a good idea. It will help clean the forum up alittle bit.

a search feature would be helpful, expecially with more people coming here, we don't need 10 of the same threads.. i don't know how difficult it would be though to put a search in

The search tool is already in place, in fact with a little practice it's not bad.

Isn't there a search function right at the top of the page?
I think the original post referred to a mod sticky letting people know to try and search before just posting a thread that may have already been beat to death.

Good thoughts, though do note that we have not even celebrated our 2-month anniversary here yet -- i.e., I personally feel that it's a tad premature to start implementing things that *discourage* participation and posting given that this community is still very much in its infancy/"building" phase. As we move into 6-figure membership (and beyond) I can definitely foresee the need for starting to ponder such measures, but in the meantime please bear with us. Coincidentally, we actually have an e-mail blast on its way out as we speak and it directly invites folks to participate here, so we'll likely see even more new faces here over the next couple days.

Brad,

Thanks for the reply, I hope it wasn't taken the wrong way

BTW as noted by TKOP, kudos for a great job.

yeaaaah I can see both sides of the point. But the redundant posting is going to get bad here soon as the forums get bigger and bigger. It's just kinda difficult to sift through all the different topics that are about the same thing. I guess stuff like this kinda works itself out on other sites as they age.

Thanks for the compliment! I knew this thing would be huge, but I have to say that the fact that we're at 60K membership less than 7 weeks after launch is quite the surprise even to me.

That said, the credit really belongs to you folks for helping create a community that visitors want to be a part of. The registration figures are definitely reflecting that excitement!

Oh, definitely no offense taken - folks should feel free to speak up when they have suggestions; it's your community as much as it ours, after all.

Would it be possible to add an area on this forum for suggestions like this ?
