I've met and had some good communications with many here through the years
and just wanted to say, goodbye.

All the best,
Mike

With some of the finer topics you've created here, Mr. Mike, I proclaim you "LIZARD KING"!

Same to you Mike. And many others. I'll especially miss the vintage amp subforum.

Hope Brad still has a job.

I don't do Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Don't really see youtube as "social media".

Happy trails, everyone.

Well $@!& :|

I never would have heard of a lot of products like the new Tonemaster series or their new line of pedals if I hadn't seen them here on the forum.

I will most certainly NOT "remain connected with Fender on their social media channels.".

Since Fender doesn't have a forum anymore, maybe I'll go back to the Gibson forum and learn about their new products. Hope to see some of you there.

Wow, it's the end of an era. I did not check in every day but I've been coming here for over a decade now for information, advice and camaraderie. It's truly been a pleasure to get to know all of you and I wish you all the best. Thanks to Brad and all the Lounge Lizards for everything. May you always find happiness, success and fulfillment in pursuing your passions, musically or otherwise.

Steve

Yah; it's been fun.
I don't do any so-called "Social Media's" either, so I say good-bye here.

I'm registered at SquireTalk and StratTalk I believe, just have never participated. Guess I'll head that way.

The only socializing I did on a regular basis was old school through BBS or with family and extended family via camera or, perhaps, using online audio hookup in the mid to late 90s. Windows Live Messaging eventually found it’s way to my screen, but interest dwindled as Windows Live evolved into oblivion. Early texting came with a price and, after traveling, I got junk texts that I had to pay for, and so I dropped all texting, and I use little to no messaging today. That’s Mrs. FSB’s forte. I’ve moved on, tell her what to write, and that’s called voice control. Maybe, I could change her name to Google or Alexa.
As with many here, retirement and more leisure time came to me. After a long hiatus, the guitar would come back to me. I needed some information and direction for making my first purchase of a Strat. Missing the 2007 start of this Forum I did manage to jump on board just before the end of the Forums’ first year. Glad I did. The Forum had me brush up on what I knew and didn’t know. I had hands on with Fender as a teenager, and yet I had not experienced ownership, hadn’t played for years, and it was time to come up to date and to become an owner as well as a player. I found it all here and then some. I didn’t post In the beginning, but when I did, I was welcomed and given plenty of help to reach a decision that worked for me. I soon found this Forum to be much more than typically informative, and while marketing was the name of the game, genuine conversations for and against were, for the most part, constructive and beneficial for all.

After a rewarding experience, I decided to jump in head first to pay back, lend an ear and a hand or an opinion where I could, and to do as others have done for me and for those who looked for help or comradeship. It was evident that a conscientious effort made by members in good and bad times helped this Forum to exist and thrive. The numbers speak for themselves.

This Fender family has seen births and passings, shared tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, winter, droughts, terrorists in Paris, the Vegas shooting, and other major and minor events. We’ve had successes and failures with the misled. We’ve seen repetition of errors in one’s quest which mistakenly followed in the footsteps of their idol who may or may not have ended in tragedy leaving a short lived success. Some of us followed Beck’s growth both in life and in music. We’ve had our poetry, writings, all things musical, laughter, tears, and we gave and took great music along the way. We’ve had lessons in music and life. Motivation and creativity? Whether music or lifestyle, it surrounds this Forum. Okay. That was some of what this Forum did.

However, most of all it was, thanks to Brad and in past days Fender, what we members made of it. While some may disagree, I think we did a pretty good job gang. Many have come and gone, old and new; but, what we had was great, and so are you.

I’m glad I jumped on board, and shared the ride with such a fine crew. When this ship goes down, I’ll be saluting all of you. You made a difference.

I hope to share a cruise with you again wherever you may sail.

- Gary

Wow, just saw this today. I am really going to miss all of you, I don't think closing this down is wise.

I have to say that since joining this forum so many years ago I have learned so much from all of you.

life will be different from now on.

I wish all of you good luck and happiness.

This is really sad :(

I agree...the search feature on these forums is THE VERY FIRST tool I use when researching information when I'm contemplating purchase of a new or used Fender product. Yes; there are other places to do research, but Fender Forums was always my first stop.

To me, it seemed like (and I could be wrong because I've never hosted a forum) Fender really didn't have to do a whole lot more than "approve" the first post of a new registered member, and make sure a 'pop-up' ad appeared every now and again asking you to sign up for their newsletter or playing lessons. There was evidence of occasional "over see" and Troll removal...but nothing more stringent and time consuming that would lead me to believe that this statement:
Quote:
we are now at a point where we need to refocus our resources elsewhere.
is anything other than convenient for them.
The look, layout, and format hasn't changed in the 6 1/2 years I've been posting here, so I just don't know how "time consuming" these forums have been for Fender employee's.
