My last band, we were all in black with biker jackets on. Nothing makes more of a impact than a well turned out band. As far as tricks go we had loads.
1 get jools to tune up off stage. nothing looks worse than a band tuning up onstage before their set
2 Insert lit ciggarette into jools's belly button and draw a smiley face around it whilst he solos behind his head.
3 rhythm and solo behind my back
4 Play the set in 6 sets of 5 songs with no breaks inbetween songs (very good for rushed timeslots and looks very pro)
5 solo whilst the vocalist detunes my guitar and keep the solo in pitch with the trem.

I think I might need you to post one or two of your upcoming gigs. I need to see some of this stuff - especially the smiley face round the smoking belly button. I'll be the one in the front row in a Forum T-shirt laughing his head off...

Cheers - C

that would be cool to do if someone just randomly got up on stage.

Just say to them, "come here, next to the amp." Then turn it up to ten, everything, and blast the feedback in his ears. That would be so funny once he can't stand it anymore and trips over the chords into the audience which doesn't catch him.

"Here, we have a class A idiot people."

Next time, don't mess with guitarists with huge marshalls behind them. This could happen to you. :)

Some years ago I worked with a singer who 'preferred' the older type of heavy, round-base mike stands. I asked why he didn't own any lighter-weight, easier to pack tri-pod types and all he said was: "You'll see... " Eventually we played a gig where the crowd got really drunk and overly aggressive....... some wise-butt at the front of the stage reached up and started yanking on his mic line. The singer got his mic stand and planted it down on the other hand holding his beer cup, squashing the drink..... he let go of the mic line immediately. Then the guy got ticked off and tried to re-grab the mic line which was now pulled back and just out of reach. The singer then used the mic stand to whack the guy's elbow..... end of hassle.
The singer told me he had used the stand to fend off other dorks in the past and once he'd even sent some loony-toon to the hospital, but it was part of an audience brawl and the concussion was never attributed to a mic stand, LOL

Showmanship is great, but you don't want to become the musical equivalent of this guy:

Hey Franky.... just loosen your electrodes, LOL
A 'standard' guitar usually has 3 or 4 neck bolts.... you got 2, eh? hehehe

NOTE: When you've practiced enough to get your parts down and have confidence in both yourself and your band-mates, it's a piece of cake. Sure, even experienced stage people still get 'butterflies' but that's normal.

Go MAD? Naw..... GET mad is another thing........ when you hit a clunker, a string breaks, you forget what song you're SUPPOSED to be playing, etc.
