I got the nickname "Ziggy" when I was in college... I was a big fan of reggae. And I lived in Clearwater when I came up with "ClearwaterZiggy".

On many forums, I am typically just DrJohn. Although on the political forums that I have been tossed off of, I am now Rusty Shackleford. :)

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on television. It's a long story, but it has to do with annoying others, who actually have Dr. in front of their names (not medical Drs.).

That finally answers that for me! I know you're Norwegian, not German, but "Stube" is the German word for "den." I've been saying your handle in my head as "Blue Stube" -- "blue den." Now I know better...

Like a lot of you, I have the same handle on other forums. I was trying to think of something different for this one. Ronnie Earl calls me Big Frank, so I used that.

My guitar is Red, and I crank it to the Max. 61 just says that I've been around forever.

[quote="russianracehorse"]How did you choose your user name?

It was pinned on me by a patient of mine, years ago, when he learned I was lost in the blues.

Doc

Ah - I assumed it was because you did "want to make it cry and sing..."

When I was signing up I just typed in my name, entered the Forum - and then discovered everyone else was using zappy handles. Gawd, I felt like a chump for a while.

Now I quite like that it's my real name you are seeing - even if you don't know how to say it. (It's pronounced Kerry - it is the hard-to-spell, hard-to-say Welsh form of the name... Thanks, dad.)

First time I've ever seen that name........other than you using it for a screen name. I like the way it sounds, with that particular spelling.

Gonna share that first name with us?

...Sherry, Cherry, Serry - I get called all of that. In Turkey C without an accent is said like a J, so, Jerry. Even in Britain it is not a common name, and it can be for guys or gals with the same spelling. Oh, the endless hilarity of my school days...

My dad has quite an unusual name which gave him some hassle - so he decided to make things worse for his son, just to get even - ?

Meanwhile: don't we all picture ZZDoc in his greens at the operating table - with a teacosy hat and a long, long beard sticking out from beneath his surgical mask. Not sure why... Welcome back from your vac, Doc.
