a few weeks ago, bought an American Pro from a local, well established, one shop music store. Fender authorized dealer.
Got 10% off when I said cash. No credit card, no trade in. They didn't have the color or maple neck and said they would special order from Fender. Special order = no return.
A week later went to pick it up. quick look over check and 5 minutes playing and I said good.
At home I fine inspected it. I saw the serial number at the store but glanced is all I did. The serial number was US17 indicating a 2017. A bit of case rash and a very few pick marks on the plastic pick guard cover. Am I off expecting that it would be a US19 ? Any advantage in having a 2017 first run production year for the Am.Pro? It plays great just though it would be new.

Did your sales slip/receipt say "new" or 2019 or ?

At the least I would question the store and express what you posted above.
